lol We’re in ‘sticker shock’ over the prices of a new AC unit!

My ac unit stopped working, its been giving me trouble since I first turned it on this season. Really hoping I don’t have to replace it, prices are nuts. Its definitely hotter where you are tho. Stay cool, its dangerously hot out.

I just fixed my buddies ac that apparently wouldn’t even turn on any more. One of the electrical plugs inside was loose and wasn’t connecting right. As soon as it was plugged back in tight she fired up just fine.

$100 just for a tech to come and check it out… then prices dependent on what’s needed. But a new unit is almost $600 and up. Between a rock and a hard place here! lol
IF it’s ‘fixable’ might be cheaper to go that route and hope it lasts until the off-season, when prices come down. lol

Well, lol I say ‘$100’ it’s actually $99 :scream:

Nothings cheap anymore I’m sure middle of winter ac units will be deep discounted . Fixing the old one might be the route to go.

Well hell…$275.00 later, the AC is ‘fixed’ at minimum of half the price of a new unit. So hopefully it lasts until the off-season when prices are lower (HOPEFULLY!)
Already hot as heck, with heat index supposed to get 114 today.

Boy, labor rates there are different than here @JohnnyPotseed . My daughter lives 50 degrees hotter inland. 30 miles or so. I think the basic service call was $225 or something. Just to show up. That’s BS.
Forecast 105-110 for a week starting Wednesday!

Might be the best news so far I’ve read @JohnnyPotseed . Hope the rest of your day and week is cool as a cucumber :cucumber:.

The tech to come out was $100, then $175 labor and parts

Glad to hear your fixed up. I will get me an order in on this new deal soon.

Did you find out what the problem was.? Not compressor or fan motor for that. Im saying a capacitor took a shit. My guess.

Fan motor went. $100labor and he had another motor he let me have for $75. I didn’t bother trying to argue him down, just said ‘do it’!

Especially since he was the ONLY Tech that’d come out here for a ‘window unit’ mounted through the wall! Out of about 20 calls I made this morning! lol

That’s what happened to me 2 weeks ago remember?? It got this house around 95 degrees for a day or so… then we got window units… then they finally fixed the central air ac… it was the capacitor… and the compressor lol…

I rent… so the landlord got a seer 14 for the price of a seer 13… so now it’s cold as you’d ever want it in here… usually freezing myself out lol

lol $275 is debatable on that. But, it did cost less than a new unit! So, I reckon you’re right! lol

That’s what i meant… the word cheaper was used very loosely lol
