Just some of OJ’s pics (Part 1)

Yep that’s what we would prefer but it’s really up to the insurance company. Now if the shop says it would cost more to fix than it’s worth than it’s a done deal.
We haven’t gotten an estimate yet, Pretty sure there is frame damage though.

When i got rear ended they told me according to law, if damage is over 60% of the vaue of the vehicle they have to total.

The shop we took it to is a Hyundai specialist so I am sure they are aware of the value of the vehicle. The guy we talked to this morning jokingly said it was only a dollar short of being totaled.

Well that sucks. You could not kick a hundred dollar dent in the quarter panel???

Who knows what he really meant by that. Hell they can’t even start on the thing for at least a week.

Shitty. Do they supply a rental?

To be honest here is how I am looking at it. Rob can’t really drive, his tremors are just to bad, his arms and legs to weak. Even if they can fix it up and it looks and drives like new it will last him the rest of his life. He is not far from a wheelchair at this point. So value of the car doesn’t really mean shit at this point.

We have to demand one from the guys insurance. A lot of times they just never answer yes or no knowing it leaves you in limbo and them not having to pay for a rental. I don’t think Rob wants to go through the hassle, he will just have me take him wherever in my truck.

Insurance companies (aka extortion inc.) will ALWAYS come out on the winning end.

I agree wholeheartedly they have taken advantage of the fact that everyone has to have coverage. Rates soared once it became law.
On the other hand I also remember when it was optional. If someone that was driving a POS and totaled your car. You had to sue them. If they had nothing you were shit out of luck and had to take a total loss.
There is good and bad as is with most things……

Yep. I agree with the fact that requiring insurance helped in that respect. It’s just, like you said, that humungus jump in cost that they SWORE wouldn’t happen. What… maybe 2 days… They had the letters printed and ready to mail on day one.

I remember in Alabama you didn’t have to have insurance. It wasn’t that long ago. And then they had some weird law. If you had $1 million in the bank you didn’t have to have car insurance. That has been some years ago. I’m sure that every state requires car insurance now. But some of the bigger ones like Allstate, they’re too expensive. You have to get to general. lol
It’s getting to be where you can’t find cars anymore. It’s gonna be all SUVs and trucks. Right now, cars are very cheap. Especially the used cars. I wouldn’t buy a new one. But they do offer some incentives now. I can’t see you spending over $100,000 for a vehicle. Really blows my mind to see people living in a shack and they got $150000 Vehicle sitting outside. I figure a new Silverado pick up truck is close to $100,000 by the time you add the insurance to it you’re probably paying close to $1000 a month. And if you don’t own a house by now, you’re definitely not gonna get one anytime cheap anywhere. Unless there’s something you have to put a lot of money in.
The house next-door is for rent. They want almost $2000 a month. That is $500 a week to live in something that isn’t yours. But I do know that in certain states if you live in a house for 10 years, you could possibly own that house.

Only with a rent to own contract. And at the end of that contract there is still a considerable amount of money you have to pay before it is actually your property. Nothing is cut and dry these days, you definatly have to read the fine print. If you don’t have the funds at the end of the contract you are simply renting and not owning.

South Carolina has that law.

Also, the state that I live in so I have property next to yours and you don’t take care of your property. So I cut the grass and keep the upkeep on that property. If I go through the proper channels, I can end up with that property. The state that I live in, they have started cracking down on that.

Here is how that works in this state.

  • Occupation: The squatter must reside on the property continuously, openly, and without permission for at least 15 years
  • Property taxes: The squatter must pay property taxes for at least five consecutive years
  • Color of title: The squatter must have a title from a tax assessor, which indicates “irregular ownership”
