Kailash (Chem D x Snow Lotus) Bodhi Seeds

Dude I’m with you, I can turn out a sauce pretty fast but the short simmer red sauce always comes out tasting like spaghetti-o’s! That all day summer joint is the way to go for a deep robust flavor! Im gonna be leaning hard on blue gold my next flower run too, bunch of cuts and stuff so everything is gonna be in 1gal or smaller pots to just get a good sense of each pheno before I go through with the axe.

In other news, my wife reminded me that I still had a tray in the deep freeze from my last hash run. It’s mostly the scraps from the 140 bag, as well as a couple chunks from the other bags that hadn’t dried when I pulled the bulk of the goods, but I went ahead and pulled the tray and decided to work the hash with my hands instead of the bottle since frenchy said everyone should feel the resin in their hands at least once. After about 30 seconds of just pressing my thumb against it I had a solid mass, here’s what I got, from the scraps after like 2 minutes of working it in my palm:

Can’t fucking miss with this bubble tech! Cheers!

Happy Monday morning fam. Plants are still alive as of this writing, just waiting on them to drink the last of the reservoirs and then that’s all she wrote. Still not seeing as much amber as I’d like on these gals but the time has come to move em out and get the new tenants in. Here’s a quick photo dump of where we’re at:

Be good out there y’all :v:t2:

Got home today and both reservoirs were dry, so it was time to do the deed:

Should have recorded the official time of death. Let’s call it 6:05pm :v:t2::heart:

That was fast! Congrats on the harvest, how was the aroma during the chop?

Thank you! Smells were pretty much the same as they’ve been going through flower, from a distance, some musky dankness and then when handling the plants straight up lemon candy. Tents already been scrubbed down and the poor sad clones that were waiting in veg have already taken up residence. Debating whether or not I document them since they’re all being flowered out in small pots just to basically get a look at the phenotypes to determine culls vs. keeps with plans for a proper run of the keepers in the future.

Congrats @LegsMahoney ! Can’t wait to hear how they smoke. This is probably the only Kailash grow log ever.

Thanks! There was another member I think in this thread saying that he grew them as testers, but yea this one was exciting and interesting to look at for sure, very intrigued to try the smoke, I’m also gonna play with a new dry tech after hearing notsodog talk about his tech on Matt riots podcast, interested to see how that compares to the finished product from my typical dry tech

Hangin out:

Temps and humidity are a little variable in the basement this time of year, but they’re dancing around the acceptable range, hoping the dry will go nice and slow and then I’ll try out notso’s method of finishing the cure in paper bags stuffed inside contractor bags.:v:t2:

Interesting - I tried finishing them in the paper bags… but didnt know about the second set of bags. So use a big plastic bag to cover the paper bags?

Looks so empty once there cut and hung. Looks like some nice buds to trim up.

Congrats Legs!! Just coming up for air myself, sorry to be MIA lately, been slammed with work but I finally finished my chop last night.
Excited to hear your thoughts on them when the time comes :yum:

Yea, so on the breeder syndicate podcast notso outlines his whole tech and he basically lets it line dry u til you’re getting the typical stem snap, but instead of going from there straight into a jar, it’s into the paper bags and then the paper bags go into a contractor bag to cure. I think it’s kinda designed for simplicity at a larger scale but he said he recommends it for smaller homegrown too. He says the paper bags allow the remaining moisture to even out through the buds better than the jars because of the breathability, gonna see what’s up with that and compare to some jar cured stuff.

Tell me about it! :joy: thankfully I got some fresh resident in there right away

Don’t sweat it brother, I been in the same boat lately, read times are down all over haha, glad to hear from you again though, I been MIA from your thread too I think, gotta swing in to see how that SFV finished out :v:t2:

I’m not saying that it doesn’t work for notsodog (?) or anybody else, but I am saying that that sounds like mold waiting to happen. It also just sounds completely unnecessary. What’s the benefit, exactly? How is that better than just drying, trimming and getting the flowers into jars? Paper bags, sure, I do that every grow. But now we’re adding another layer of bags? Why?

So to my understanding he was saying if you happen to jar shit up and it’s still wetter than you want, if it’s in glass it’ll start to ferment and could kill the terps etc. I think his argument for this method is that it’s a little more idiot proof way to preserve the terps and make sure you’re getting to ideal moisture levels through the cure. I wouldn’t bother even experimenting except for the fact that I just cracked a jar the other day that I hadn’t touched since the dry that literally blew the lid off when I went to unscrew the top, like blew it across the room :joy::joy: the taste was still good and everything but my first thought was “oh shit, I guess I didn’t quite hit the dry on that one” so I figured it was worth just trying a different method to see if there’s an appreciable difference, and since I had listened to that episode with notso talking tech I figured it was at least worth a shot. But yea, I had similar thoughts as you did about the potential for fucking it up, but that’s kinda the situation with any tech in general so nothing ventured nothing gained I guess

I can see the trash bag being good - whenever ive done paper bags they get too dry. Maybe Im bagging too late… I did like 1 day before Id be trimming… some bud leaves crisp but not all. I remember him sayin leaving them on the stems being good for curing too.

Are you using a hygrometer for your drying/curing? That really helps with knowing the humidity levels in your jars to know if your flower is too wet or dry.

I do have some small sized hygrometers that I’ve tossed into jars to keep tabs on the humidity, I also try to be good about burping early on but I think I just got lazy on that particular round? Chalk the whole experiment up to laziness and experimental curiosity I guess :joy:

Been MIA here for a bit, life stuff, nothing gnarly or anything just typical housework and shit, but wanted to update that all three plants got bucked down from the line and put into paper bags which went into a contractor bag a la notsodog’s dry tech. Overall the line dry was like 15-16 days and there we’re still some floppy stems in the mix so I’m expecting to have to burp these things pretty often u til things even out in moisture content. Will post photos of some trimmed nugs when the time comes. Left the seeded branches hanging, I’ll likely let them go u til they’re beyond bone dry and then shuck em to see what we got. If I end up with a good number of seeds I’ll probably give some away here to some of the heads that hung on for the full ride. After all that I’ll probably call that a wrap and get to work on my outdoor thread. Got 4 of COPAs P25s in small pots outside till they sex and I can determine who gets a home in the two big outdoor pots. Hope everyone is doing good out there! Hope to be done with the springtime rush of chores soon to be able to be back hanging with y’all more often. Love!:v:t2:

So I just shucked the pollinated branches of the three plants and pulled down like at least 1-200 (likely more but I just eyeballed it) seeds per plant. Also pulled about a nickel sized patty of nice pressed dry sift as well, rolled a little pin and it burns like incense so I’ll probably be smoking that in my hash dome for the weekend. Seeds are curing in paper bags right now but stay tuned as I’ll give away a couple 10 packs here as a thank you to the heads that hung out for the show. Now I just gotta figure out when I’m gonna turn myself in for trim jail :grimacing:
