Blaochistan

The Westernmost and largest of the four provinces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The region is forming 43% of the state’s land mass and containing most of its mineral resources and has an area of about 134,000 square miles. It is bounded in the south by the Arabian Sea, in the west by Iran and in the north by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Weather

Only 7-8 % of the land is suitable of stable agriculture.
Balochistan’s 95% of population is concentrated on about 5% of the land, in contrast to the tribal pockets of Balochistan.

Balochistan receives about 5-12 inches of rain per annum, due to low altitude of Makran range. Sudden downpour occurs in winter, the rainfalls in summer into the regions closer to the Arabian sea.

The terrain is among the least hospitable in the world, largely comprised of either sandy deserts or boulder-strewn mountains.

Temperatures alternating between intense heat and extreme cold, produces vegetation suitable mostly for rearing sheep and goats in the north-east, or camels and donkeys in the south-west.

The common source of irrigation is Well water or Bore water from the ground to fulfill the agricultural needs. The Karez System of irrigation has been dried since 40+ years.

Cannabis and Balochistan

Originated from the south Caspian Sea/daryā-e- khizr’s bay, right next to the belt of mountainsknown as Alborz in Iran.

Balochi people were relocated to Makran in the 16th century. They were subject to Mughals and after the fall of Mughal Empire, about 150 tribes united to form Balochistan.

The regional languages are Brahui and Balochi; both are identified as western Iranian languages. There are huge population of Balochi Brahui speakers living in southern Afghanistan and also in Iran. Several journalists indicate the origin of the word Baloch from Sanskrit, in which “Bal” means strength and “och” means extraordinary.

"Khan of Kalat” is a title of Baloch rulers of Khanate of Kalat.

These aristocrats of Balochistan were profoundly filled with the enthusiasm of cannabis. From reaping one of the best cannabis variations in Balochistan to selecting some of the specified cannabis seeds from the whole region, from Iranian side to the
west and north-west to Afghanistan.

Khans of Kalat did the selections of their own preference in aspects of vigor, aroma and other features as coloration, they brought the seeds and grew them at their district.

The collections they made led to the creation of remarkable Plants which were then carried away by the Tribal agriculturalists of Balochistan, they considered those seeds as superior ones. Cultivation of cannabis in Balochistan dates back to almost 400 years or even more (As told by the sources from the region).

As modern day Balochistan lacks general health care facilities. Balochi people trusted herbs from all over the region for their primary health care and still follow such traditions of folk medicines.

Unmatched Resilience, Balochistan Landrace Hash Plant Heirlooms from the Desert regions.

Not much vegetation around, but a soil beneath that has a texture like ashes.

Hash made from these Landrace Heirlooms

Among all the places in the northwestern & southwestern region of Pakistan, anyone who has experienced Balochi Hash especially from Dasht and Kalat’s desert regions, will never forget it.

Oily, rich, full of flavor, with lingering effects that spread consistently through the body, like that static buzz of a bad TV screen.

This unforgettable quality isn’t just because of the ssp. Afghanica properties. There’s more to it, the growing conditions of these plants play a major role in what makes the Hash so unique and Medical

As we’ve discussed, Cannabis Plants in this region are cultivated using minimal irrigation supplies or only rainwater, a method locally known as Khushkawa. The combination of drought (desicca) and saline soil conditions puts significant stress on the plants during the bloom.

These harsh conditions don’t create pretty Cannabis plants, but what they do is to trigger the plant’s natural survival mechanisms, initiating biochemical and molecular responses that increase the synthesis of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and resin production.

This is how the harsh terrain of Balochistan shape some of the richest, most unique :chocolate_bar: Hashish profiles found any anywhere.
