Hey family.
Our good friend @lefthandseeds was kind enough to send me some of his Kandahar Black BX beans earlier this summer. These plants look SO amazing, they just had to move to the front of the fall/winter grow queue.
I plan to keep any males in the tent, and to make plenty of seeds to distribute to members.
I’ve got 5 plants growing. 4 shown here, the other is a bit runty. I also put it in an octopot today and will continue to nurse it along until its roots hit the reservoir. If the runt springs to life then, great! It will stay in the breeding pool. If it stays runty then it will get culled.
But these 4 look good so far. They will continue vegging for many more weeks, so there won’t be too many updates here until flowering begins.
A bit on lineage: these started with a strain I called “tux” or tuxedo hashplant that is Black Lebanon from Geneseeds crossed to Kandahar Black aka Black Afghani from USC (cross made ca ‘20-‘21).
I sent some of these to @Soiltech who made some great selections and sent F3s back to me.
Earlier this year, I grew some out alongside some Kandahar black, this time from blackbird. Theirs is the Bodhi cut of KB crossed to the USC. I used a male and made a small amount of seeds from a very potent and productive tux f3 female.
They Lebanese really helps with the structure and yield for indoor growing. I think this bx will be an Afghan lover’s dream.
Thanks for the extra details on the lineage @lefthandseeds I am honored to be growing these
These plants sprouted fast, with good germination (5 out of 6 sprouted) and have been growing pretty vigorously last 2 weeks in the little solo cups they were in.
I’m excited to see what happens once the roots hit the reservoir now that they’re moved to the octopups
How often does the Afghan pheno come out? This looks like the bomb. Looking more for the Afghan numbing effect. Needed for sleep, don’t want to be motivated.
Ooh, I’m growing some Kandahar too. Right now have a green, bushier pheno and a purple-stemmed, lankier pheno. They almost look like different strains.
Ok, these KB’s are over-achievers! They were transferred to the octopups only 5 days ago, and at least 2 of them already have roots hitting the reservoir (some plants take 10-20 days)
Explosive growth should happen in the next week.
So today they all got topped, and labels and id numbers. Clones will be cut in a couple weeks when they are bigger, and flowering will start next month possibly
A bit of good news, the 5th KB runt plant’s roots have also just started poking through the net pot into the res. So, I’m hoping it springs to life and catches up with its siblings so it can stay in the breeding pool.
