Does anyone keep a breeder male alive indefinitely to collect pollen for sale? If so, how long have you been able to keep it alive? Are there any good books or websites about this? Are there any companies selling male pollen at this time? How much money do you think a " proven" breeder male plant would be worth as a one time sale?

I have females that are many years old. Keeping a male long term is no different. Periodically take cuts and grow it back from clone to keep it fresh, and alive. Can keep a plant long enough to outlast you if you take care of her, er him.

Some males are tricky.They dont need as much food as a female and can be less finicky with proper root trim intervals.Some males will go into flower power mode and just start popping pollen sacs when they get the slightest bit rootbound and wont reveg no matter what you do

You can extend artificially the length of the production, but perpetually harvesting pollen … i don’t even see the point over to just clone in loop. Insured more grammers of pollen per sqm per year, this way.

None “brick and mortar type” one is offering this. Hobbyist yes, and the interest is growing.
For one time, it’s going in the right direction with this imho.
The high score I’ve in mind is 50K but for a breeder’s male cut. And the breeder was one of the pillar of our modern genpool with rep, prizes and a solid label. Not a random.
Pollen is not a product specially hard to distribute (considering seeds) and today it’s complementary. It permit to have “regs in exploded kit” even if i know by advance that fems will be used as hosts in the majority of cases lol Still far better than a double fem, it can heal the genpool by reintroducing males and opening eyes of the next gen on the importance of the grade of the weed, and its control with 100% of the gametes ^^
I think that a dose of pollen should stay cheap, because the context. People will buy from ~50 to ~100 random fems, then for around 20 bucks max pollinate with males i think. The offer have to be really smart and very educational i think.

Pollen is pretty popular already. I’ve listed pollen twice on Strainly. First was 3 vials of Acapulco gold, then 5 vials of Purple Thai Haze. The AG was gone in 8 hours, and the PTH within 24. There are a few pollen listings over there.
As far as keeping males, I’m all for it. I think it’s a lot easier to find a keeper female than it is to find a keeper male. Two of my main keepers are that PTH male, and a Blazing Dragon male, both of which I got directly from Snowhigh.

If you reveg a male will continue to throw pollen, despite being in veg. My reveg male is producing nanners from December

@Guitarzan what was the longest running male you ever kept?Was it from a constant cycle of taking clones?Or did you happen to find that golden male that tolerates being potted for extended periods of time?
