What’s up, O’Gers!
I kept putting off starting my grow journal here, but I finally decided to stop procrastinating lol. Figured I’d share a bit about myself and my setup.
I’m a Brazilian grower, deeply passionate about cannabis and all its nuances. I’ve been growing for about 10 years, not always consistently though. Some years I only managed a single cycle, and there was even a full year off. I started back when I was 16, growing alongside my dad, an old-school stoner who’s still my best friend. I know, 16 sounds early lol, but he’s from a different era and always had my back.
Cannabis has helped me a lot with my mental health. I’m not suggesting anyone self-medicate, but for me, both the act of growing and consuming bring a sense of calm that no medication or therapy has ever matched. It helps ease that baseline anxiety I’ve always had.
I studied Agronomy for almost two and a half years, but had to drop out due to financial difficulties and no access to scholarships. I moved back to my hometown and I’m currently studying Biology. I chose this path because of the plant. Not that college teaches me anything directly about cannabis, if anything, I’ve learned way more from communities like this one, but I still dream of bridging these two worlds: the grower and the academic. I’d love to study something cannabis-related or work with it professionally someday.
I’m completely obsessed with the plant. One of my main general interests, not only in cannabis, lies in studying intraspecific morphological variation influenced by geographic origin, exploring landraces, heirloom varieties, pheno hunting, and hybridization. I enjoy cultivating these strains to better understand their phenotypic plasticity, genetic diversity, and ethnobotanical significance.
Right now, I’m growing in about 1.7-liter pots that I modified by cutting off the top rim, so they ended up just a bit smaller. I use a mix of peat moss and perlite, along with synthetic fertilizers.
I’ve tried other methods before, but I’ve always focused on synthetic nutrients. Early on, when I grew outdoors, I used organic soil, but since then, I’ve been leaning more towards this setup.
The first few weeks were tough. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to grow this year, since I only had a few seed packs some of them pretty old and unwilling to germinate. I got really bummed when I grabbed a pack of Chocolate Diesel seeds from my buddy Vertebrata, which were also quite aged. Out of the 10 seeds, only about three looked remotely viable; most were brittle, pale, some even cracked and none made it through germination. Maybe I messed up. Maybe I should’ve tried a different method, or even used gibberellic acid. But nothing sprouted, and by then I had pretty much accepted that maybe the problem was me.
After that, at least the germination rate was almost 100%! Only two seeds didn’t sprout. So, no more delays here’s what was going on at that time:
5 Pablo’s Gold (Panama Red Pheno x Double Colombian Gold Purple Pheno x UK Cheese) x Vietnamese Purple
5 Highland Hindu Kush Black Pheno x Lashkar Gah Black
5 Malanas Bananas (Malana River Valley Landrace x Banana OG)
5 Palestine Princess (La Marquise - Aficionado x Palestinian Valley Landrace)
5 Skywalker OG Bx
3 Tuna Breath (Tuna Kush - Reeferman Genetics x Peanut Butter Breath - Thug Pug)
Out of these plants, four were already more developed because they had been germinated earlier in a batch originally intended for an outdoor run. But I ended up deciding to reserve the outdoor space for isolating males only, since, well… it’s still kinda illegal here in Brazil lol. These four were two Pablo’s Gold and two Malanas Bananas. The Pablos quickly became my favorites they showed insane vigor and a beautiful structure. Because of my busy schedule (some days I’m out for 12+ hours I work as a sushiman to support myself while also attending university), they went through a bit of drought stress, but nothing seemed to phase them.
Interestingly, their leaves weren’t very narrow early on, and those two ended up being males with dense, leafy, bush-like structures (I forgot to take pictures, but I’ll post some later lol). The other three more slender, with narrower leaves turned out to be one massive male and two gigantic females.
The Palestine Princess line had some issues all the males flowered way too early and had to be culled, but the females turned out really interesting. I’ll get into them more later. The Skywalker OGs were the most uniform phenotypically I’ve ever grown seriously, almost clones. Tuna Breath, on the other hand, showed two totally distinct phenotypes, one clearly outperforming the other. Structurally, I’ve got no complaints except maybe for the Highland Hindu Kush, which gave 2 little tiny male plants… aside from one massive male, lol, but hey, that’s part of the game.
At this stage, most plants were still in 750 ml “açaí cups,” and a few were even in regular 350 ml cups lol but they all eventually made it to their final pots.
During the vegetative stage, especially close to flip, the males were reeking in the tent. I actually fell into that classic trap of thinking they were super fragrant females — but nah, they were just extra stinky boys. I ended up removing 16 males in total. The Pablo’s males stood out the most for me — their smell reminded me of Nezara viridula (you know, that little green stink bug) mixed with rotting fruit and dirty socks. The stem rub was incredibly pungent, and their structure was really nice too. That’s why I chose them as the base for my seed project in this run. My idea is to combine their sativa-leaning traits and subtle skunky hints from the UK Cheese (which didn’t express much in this generation, maybe a bit in the males) with some of the more indica-leaning, kushy/Afghan hybrids I’ve got going and see what pops up in the next gen.
On top of that, I selected a short, bushy, and strong Skywalker OG male, a tall and aromatic Highland Hindu Kush male, and a beautifully structured Tuna Breath male for a controlled pollination mix with the Pablo’s Gold females. I’m also planning to make an F3 generation from this Pablo line (3 males x 2 females).
Oh almost forgot. There was a little incident with three plants got unintentionally topped. Here’s what happened: when it’s not too hot, I usually leave the grow room door open without the AC on, just blocked off with a gate so my four mutt dogs can’t get in. One day I was home, going in and out of the grow all day, and I must’ve left the door half-open at some point. I think one of them snuck in while I was zoning out… and took a bite out of some fan leaves. I didn’t notice right away since the damage was light and there weren’t any signs of pests. Only the next day I realized a few tops had been chewed lol. But no biggie nothing fatal. Just means a bit more work managing the canopy. I got this.

Now finally catching up to more recent times, and moving on to the fun part, let’s talk about the females.
By far, the standout pheno in terms of bag appeal and overall “wow” factor in my grow is Tuna Breath #3. It’s the one everyone points out as soon as they look into the tent, even my wife is in love with her. She’s insanely frosty, stacking gorgeous flowers with top-shelf bud structure. The smell, while sadly not “tuna,” is super sweet, like strawberry or raspberry jelly, kind of artificial but in a really pleasant way.
Another one that’s been catching my attention is Palestine Princess #3. She’s got this minty, fresh sap kind of smell with a citrusy undertone. Also crazy resinous, but with a much leafier flower structure and a short, super bushy frame, dense and heavy for her size.
Then there’s Malana Banana, the tallest one after the Pablo girls. She’s putting out super hairy buds with long, thin, interspaced leaves, and is absolutely covered in resin. The structure isn’t very branched, it’s mostly focused on one big central cola that looks like it’s going to be huge. The scent leans earthy, with notes of wet soil, leather, and cocoa, really unique and interesting.
And of course, there are the Pablo’s Gold females, huge, full of that classic sativa potential. One of them broke the top cola when it leaned over, and now it’s growing three chunky tops in its place. The other is throwing out a massive spear-like bud that forces me to raise the light height almost weekly, it just keeps stretching into the lamp. That’s the challenge of running such a diverse lineup of genetics lol.
Overall, I’d say they’re all solid plants, each one looking like it’ll deliver some great smoke. Nothing major to complain about at this point. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to hit me up.
I’ve actually decided to use these five females as the foundation for my pollination work. All of them will be pollinated by Pablo’s Gold males. The Pablo females themselves will receive not only Pablo pollen (to make an F3) but also a mix of pollen from the other selected males.
I’m also doing controlled pollination on lower buds across all females using Pablo pollen to create a mixed seed batch. Here’s how I’m organizing the seeds:
Pablo’s Gold Seeds:
- Tuna Breath × Pablo’s Gold
- Palestine Princess × Pablo’s Gold
- Malana Banana × Pablo’s Gold
- Pablo’s Gold × Pablo’s Gold (F3)
- [Everything] × Pablo’s Gold (lower bud mixed pollination)

Awesome
going to be following along for sure . Did not know you could post videos on here . I also am growing tuna breath and Palestinian Princess im 2 weeks away from chop there all different in many ways
Thanks brother! <3 ![]()
Sadly, you can’t post videos directly here yourself, but here’s what I did: I uploaded them to Imgur (just in the anonymous folder), then copied the individual link for each video and pasted it here. That way, they show up with the automatic player.
Imgur? Is that a app sorry im old school lol
No worries brother
They’ve got an app, but I just use the website: https://imgur.com ![]()
Today I finally stopped procrastinating and leveled out the canopy… at least as even as I can get it with all these different strains, lol. Tried my best ![]()
Some budshots I took these past few days. I had taken a few others, but they all turned out soo bad lol. I’ll update this better later.
