Kwale Sativa - A Tasty Landrace Sativa from Coastal Kenya

Kwale is located in southern Kenya along the Indian Ocean coastline. The local farmers produce coconuts, mangoes and sugarcane. Kwale’s climate ranges between 24-34 degrees Celsius and is mainly hot through out the year with high humidity.

The Kwale sativa is usually cultivated between rows of corn grown by small scale farmers. Kwale sativa might contain the original DNA of Asian landrace strains which the Asian traders brought to East Africa during the monsoon trade winds that took place in the 14th century
