Mine popped in one day and the tap root was pushing the tray top by day 3. Fast starter for sure and still going. Did you see the one that bleeds? You’ll be 30 days behind. Have to see how they sex out, seeds may come of this…:sunglasses:. Keep me in mind if you do the Mexicans I’m looking for both. I have a project that requires a cross of the two. And AllOra wouldn’t come off any Sicario in trade:frowning:

Yeah same for me. I think the time on the AG is fairly long… like about 14 weeks. The Oaxaca is probably more like 11, but I haven’t run it to know for sure.

Have had one experience in HS with the Acapulco Gold, and a few with the Panama. Gold was one of the stoniest weed I ever smoked. Do not operate heavy equipment!

That’s a pretty good guess @lefthandseeds the AC is 14/16 and the Oaxacan is around 11/12 from what I remember when growing it.

How was the smoke? Which did you like better?

Late 70’s Mexican bricks were becoming the norm, but there were still some people (bikers and vets) importing the SE Asian ( Thai Sticks and loose) and top shelf SA stuff along with the local strain I’m searching my way back too “monkey paw”. This was the stuff that came In Yearly and was there and gone in a few weeks. The red was the better smoke as I remember. More costly than the Hawaiian starting to make the rounds in the Midwest and was a little more mellow than the gold. Only time I came across The gold was when my GF (wife) was babysitting for a neighbor overnight and when I went to pick her up, the husband knew I smoked so he pulls me aside and hands me what looked like an ounce. He was in AA/NA and had been at bachelor party. A biker buddy of his had given him the weed and he didn’t want the wife seeing it. So I gladly relieved him of it without really looking. All he told me was the name and “be careful”! Got in the car and took a look and I thought it was a joke. Long airy bud Yellow/like when they fade slowly on flush, with Long thin sugar leaf left on to incase the flower. TBH it looked like Hay to me not knowing then what I know now. Classic landrace Sativa long thin leafs lots of crystals, and the joint would turn black and wet with resin after 3 hits, Sativa head buzz up front On verge of psychedelic tapering to a 2-3 hr Euphoric high with no desire to overindulge. Rough smoke and earthy peppery, lime taste as I can remember was more about buz then and this is still a top 3 for me even after sampling legal for the last 10 years. Was a half ounce and it lasted me a week. Everyone that saw it asked where I goy the hay from.,lmao, until the got to smoke it. Tried to get a connect with the gifter of it but the guy was an outlaw biker and I was 15, so probably for the best I didn’t.

Beldia has 1/2” new tops Already. Thinking it will be very columnar in shape with a nice tight node spacing. Lucky I have 9’ floor to hoods if I need it. Starting to ease them closer to HPS and they are loving it. Still holding some moisture in planting pods. Letting them go until they tell me that need water. Sprouts starting to pop for Run 2 right on schedule.

I liked both for different reasons.
Both Acapulco Gold and Oaxacan Highland landraces are pretty strong in flavor, potency and effect, they also give tippy highs.
The Acapulco Gold hits the smoker fairly quickly, but the Oaxacan Highland is a creeper that can take some time to hit you.

Wow, it’s been a really long time since I’ve heard anyone mention Monkey Paw @Instg8ter!

Monkey Paw was Michigan’s first cannabis strain, appearing in the early 70’s and created by crossing three landrace strains together… Acapulco Gold, Colombian Gold and Afghani.
I was fortunate enough to try some back in the very early 90’s through a grower friend of mine that had great connections back then.

I’ve never come across any seeds of Monkey Paw, which leads me to believe it’s still clone only.

Let’s breed it for a seed run #1 on my list😎

What was your impression @Desertgrown?

Slender, loose, finger-like buds that have an almost fermented fruit, berry, maybe grape aroma, but when smoked, it’s a very smooth combination of fruit notes and skunk.
It hit quickly and gave me a warm numb feeling around the eyes and temples… I like that feeling.

Are those RSC Syrian?! If so, I totally want to see how those turn out. I was thinking about popping mine for an outdoor run this summer. I already germed my Friesland (m33) from RSC and all 15 germed with one mutant thus far. :v:

The very same! I expect them to have a lot of similarity to the Lebanese, so I thought it would be good to run them together. I like the contrast of a super mild, relaxing herb against all the high potency stuff that we usually grow. Despite having pretty low potency, the Blue Hemp Lebanese is a strain I really liked to smoke. Nothing like rolling up a joint of that stuff and going out to do yard work, or go climbing at the gym.

AG was a name given to any number of Guerrero strains. AG was more mild in my experience, though some loose cola Guerreran was the best of the best Mexican to be had. Circa 1975. 2 foot long skinny colas. Most Oaxacan brick was below average, as was most Mexican weed, But again, there was good stuff from there, especially after the Paraquat forced growers inland to Morelos and central Sough Mexico for a few years, from about 1977 to 1980 or so. They produced some of the best manicured sinsemilla to be had, and it was cheap. Like $40-50 an oz. After that the hippies left Mexico and started growing in Mendocino and Humboldt. Some time after that the cartels took over Mexican growing for export and moved growing to northern Mexico. They did not use landrace strains, they used the Dutch and California indica hybrids.

All the SW Mexico strains that I have grown from bag seed have been fairly consistent. They finish in mid October growing outdoors. No where near as late as Panama or Colombian Strains, that just start blooming when the Mexican is finished. That includes the pure sativa landraces from Guerrero, Michoacan, Jalisco, Morelos and Oaxaca.

I smoke mostly that same Lebby myself, even though I always have a lot of other strains available to smoke. Its light “day weed” as my ex called it. I am growing what I hope are similar strains from Morocco (Rif gold) and Egyptian Sinai this year. Early strains that are done by mid September. Also some Kona Gold from a friend on the Big Island. I do like the Kona Gold weed. Also day weed, with more of a kick to it. I am hoping that the Kona is not as late and long finishing as the Santa Marta Colombian Gold that is is said to be derived from.

I grabbed some seeds from brick weed inland northern Costa Rica, a few years ago. I haven’t grown it yet, but any thoughts on what it would be?
