Landrace Expansion & Trade

Anyone have any interest in pollen from the Purple bleeding Moroccan Beldia, have had him outside for a few weeks in quarantine. Walked past yesterday and my nose started running like a faucet. He was spooging all over himself. Chopped it and shook it out in a large zip and put it in the fridge with stalks still in to collect any more.

I would be interested in some bro. If possible pour that over a screen to get the green stuff out. It has a possibility of ruining the pollen with the moisture they hold. If you leave it open overnight or more it will dry and won’t matter as much. I think I poured mine through a tea strainer and that was mostly enough.

No hurry, but if you feel like fooling with it sure. Make sure to toss a few rice kernels inside and that will keep it dry too. peace

I’ll have to try that Cherokee purple. It is a pretty tomato. I have volunteers pop up in my gerden as well. Some have to be two yrs old, as they pop up in beds i used last year and the year before. This yr we only planted 2 so ill be able to let the wild ones go. They are an inch tall lol. We had a freeze 2 mornings back, so i guess they know to wait until late may before they germ. Are the Cherokee purples an odd tomato to do canning with? Ok for sauce?

It’s all good man! Hopefully we all learn something new everyday. I wouldn’t have known it works if I hadn’t fucked up my soil. Took the plants a little while to recover, but they bounced way better than I would have guessed.

Ok, just got home from work… now where’s my bong! :v:

They probably would be good for canning or sauce. They’re really tender because of being heirlooms so they would have to be processed soon after picking. They are so good on a sandwich. Really yummy flavor.I have pics from last year. They have really wild colors as well when you cut them open.

Thanks! I’ll get the addy to you first thing in the morning. I have to go eat. long day. peace

Hey @Upstate. Where’s a good source for quality Mexican beans? I was looking through my seed list, and I don’t have any Mexi genetics at all. That must change, but I’m not sure which bank to use.

Gracias amigo. :cowboy_hat_face:

I got mine from cryptic Labs through Great Lakes genetics’ website. I just checked again the other day and they didn’t have any Mexican varieties listed anymore… those are the only Mexican varieties I have ever gotten. if you’re interested in joining the fun and you don’t mind making just a couple seeds I have that pack of " vintage Mexican ", which is actually an open Pollenation between Central American and South American varieties. They were old seeds apparently …

Well sure, if you have enough to spare, I’d love to be a part of Celebración de Mexico 2020.

Thanks man, your generosity is noted, and appreciated. :vulcan_salute:

Ace seeds has some Central American genetics, A Honduras landrace and Panama, a stabilized hybrid. Depends what you are looking for.

I’d love to see someone run Honduras. I have some Panama seeds left I could spare if someone wants to grow some of them. And it might have been an error, but I saw Guatemala available on Oaseeds the other day. I actually put it in my cart temporarily to see if it was for sure available. It was. Only I’m not sure it was Oaseeds. Think so. Guatemala was only available temporarily, and I remember having a discussion about it a while back in one of these threads. Supposed to be related to the old Mexican varieties.

I’d love to but I need to upgrade my light first, and before that I need a clone/veg cab.
…I can’t get there from here…

@GMan Happy to have you join in! I’ve never seen any Mexican landrace grows on Overgrow. My favorite thread on ic is mex landrace thread. Its going to be fun to be a part of something similar. Christmas time is a long time away so I’m hoping everyone that’s interested now is still able to join in.

I hear you buddy. It will be a new experience for me running Tropicals in the middle of winter in Upstate New York. I hope the power doesn’t go out LOL. Haven’t had anything indoors in a decade except for starts. You have almost half a year to get that stuff done, perhaps you’ll get it all done. I need a new light bulb myself. I have an HPS metal halide combo. What do you guys all recommend for landrace’s?

solid engineering and great specs.

but there are plenty of others…

Expensive? Efficient?

Highest system efficacy numbers I’ve seen
Total PPF getting into CO2 territory (and dimmable.)
$1.33/watt

If it isn’t the industry standard it can’t be far off.

Use the specs as a bench mark for comparing against. You will get a quick feel for possible lights (…that doesn’t sound good… or, is it the Sativa?)

So I remember way back in the day when the original 90 watt UFO LEDs came out, they were saying they had the same light output as a 400w hps I believe. I see this one is 600 actual watts. Does that mean it puts out much more light than a 600 watt HPS ? And do these produce any noticeable quantities of heat?

There’s some heat from the LEDs and the driver but some newer models let you move the driver outside the tent (maybe 50W of heat there). The efficacy has gone way up with the new parts, significant improvements over my blurple.
The big plus for me is even coverage. You have strips distributed in a frame vs a ‘point source’ (not in the classic sense).
With these high efficacy lights covering 25 ~ 35 watts per sqr. foot is superior in several ways to high pressure bulbs - except price.
