I don’t have anywhere near the knowledge and firsthand experience you do but I can confirm the Transkei I was able to germinate from bag seed (direct from SA) in 2015 was very susceptible to powdery mildew despite the powerful effect. I had always wondered why, but now I have my answer. Its awful what was done to those farmers and their plants by those thieving Dutch assholes.

I’ve only heard one other person say they get bad mildew , but that can be environment was it in the shade ?

Those farmers have a double whammy
They used to grow it when it was highly illegal and people were scared to grow,
they made it their own business and took the risk , and could always make a bit extra money or mostly their only money to -

Send kids to school , buy livestock , food ect
But now that everyone one and their aunt is growing weed because of legalisation they have no clients or very little
Don’t get me wrong there are many tribal people growing good new wave weed outdoors (also battling for sales though)

But hybrids outdoors they are a lot more effort then landrace -(modern hybrids)more water , more bugs more diseases , seed costs fertiliser costs

The big sow and leave fields like for centuries before are not feasible with those…
Now the landrace is mostly ruined anyway
and there’s not much money in cannabis especially feral

Now the irony is that people who wanted “skunk” are looking for the landrace and only finding “skunk”
And yes GHS Speeded up that exponentially like a snowball effect …

Are those “50 or more exclusive seed packs“
all different ?
That’s a lot of individual strains to keep finding monthly?
And what’s the catch with the *

But it is possible still can find all those South African Strains? : Transkei,Swazi etc etc?
Or they are gone for ever?

I believe they are attempting at least a couple expeditions per year, this is not a monthly seed drop.

Here was what was included with the winter seed drop from Cambodia

Can’t say for sure if these guys are doing the same thing but I’ve been getting warnings of people going over there and buying bulk seeds on the street and reselling them as heirlooms. It’s extremely hard to find those varieties even for people living in SE Asia. Unless they’re really good at tracking down that type of collection I would be suspicious.

Hmm Khmer OG.

As collective member I would get 13 seeds from one expedition. That’s $9 a month.

At two expeditions a year that is 26 seeds for… $108

That’s more expensive than Bodhi and one of them is a possible cross to OG.

I’m glad people are out there getting these strains but there is not much information on each one and to be unworked feral or a hybrid should be less. If all the extra money is going to the farmers then i’d happily pay extra but i’m guessing with exchange rates, that whoever is running this company is making out like a bandit. It just happens that these cannabis hot spots are some of the poorest and or war torn and inhospitable areas on earth. Like jungle, desert and top of mountains.

News Flash…Tom has repeatedly told folks pop 100 for the 5 magic ones . $ 2 a seed & you aint happy . Seriously if one does not have the grow space for a real selection then Haze aint worth it . Helps to have right climate , legal location & preferably outdoors in the dirt . Tom also said self your best 5 girls & grow out 30 of each . Ones that produce the highest % of ring yer bell like mama are your breeding stock . For most indoors the crosses are where it’s at IMHO .

The plant that caught PM, was that grown in a container or in soil?

Initially it was grown outdoors in a greenhouse in California in a plastic pot with organic potting soil and there were no serious PM issues but it was also not ideal environmental conditions for PM when it was finishing. I gave clones to two other people, one who grew it indoors and another who grew it outdoors. I lost touch with the person who grew it outdoors soon after (I also gave her Ukhrul clones) but maybe she kept it around. The person who grew it indoors grew it in a fabric pot with living soil and he was the one who ran into massive PM issues when flowering, completely coating the leaves and ruining the almost done bud. The plant was not savable.

Environmental conditions played a major factor. The tent wasn’t properly ventilated and the plant not pruned, potted, or trained correctly to plan for flowering stretch so it was a perfect storm with the humidity, airflow, and temp. Unfortunately we originally intended to reveg the plant as a mother after flowering completed so we both foolishly let our clone stock go and lost that small branch of the line. I wish I had truly understood then how precious what I had was.

As far as the authenticity of the seed I got, it was seeded bud sold as from Transkei arriving from South Africa. What I grew from that seed had a long lasting, mentally and physically energizing (but not jittery, anxious, or racy) lysergic effect that leant itself to easy lucid conversations for hours, and made you feel less disconnected from the natural world when you were in it with increased color contrast and saturation and amplified hearing. Cob cured it became a little bit terrifying and unpleasant. The aromatics were very similar to the ones @Rastafarout described upthread, but also a bittersweet grapefruit peel note which was dominant. Likely a different version of the line than the one he has and more contaminated by modern hybrids (assuming it actually was from Transkei).

He is doing the same thing as Angus from the Real Seed Company, but seeds are more pricey. What the site says what they will do with the money, i cant check. Its a seedy business nowadays.

I messaged him about the Chunk run and that I was all in for an order of 100-*** seeds but I haven’t heard a squeak out off him, no bullying or anything, I hope he is doing ok but we will c.

That’s exactly what I would expect from him. He’ll come out of the woodwork when he’s ready. Don’t expect a quick response. Haha
I already have about 5 different selections of DC but getting it right from Tom is always preferable. I’m super excited he’s doing a seed increase and don’t mind the wait

As Tom is his own man , it’s best to take him as is . You might not wanna hear it , but he aint gonna sugar coat squat . As with all land-based gentics , proper selection is key . Which in turn demands time , effort , money , talent & luck . Bottom line it aint for everybody .

I would really be behind a seed run but 12 is the limit and you need to run around 30+, 50 is better and 100 would be great! I am not sure how he can do it but Tom has a big ball sack and gets it done.

Living in California & being able to grow outdoors don’t hurt .

Well I sure there are a number of people in his position that don’t care about the genetics like he does. I live by this: Listen not to what a person says but watch what they do. He Delivers :package:
