LankySativa’s Not Really a Landrace Hybrid Seed Giveaway

Hello, I’m an FNG here to OG and I want to give away some seeds from a cross I made last year between World of Seeds’ Kilimanjaro and ACE Seeds’ Malawi. I don’t believe they can be called a true F1 because the father could be one of two Malawis. Despite claims from both breeders, these are not landrace strains or even 100% sativa, queue Maury voice - “Your BLD leaves and short flowering times determined…that was a lie” so I’m just calling it a hybrid—not a landrace hybrid or a modern poly-hybrid. “Landrace-adjacent”? “Sativa-ish”? Not sure and it doesn’t matter because they were solid plants with potential, especially for those looking to explore sativa-leaning genetics without the extreme flowering time.

THE GENETICS

World of Seeds Kilimanjaro
(The “campfire story” from WOS website…Imagine if you will :flushed:):

"An early flowering, pure African Sativa from the Kenyan slopes of Kilimanjaro, this strain is the result of generations of crossbreeding by the native population though she’s since been stabilised to improve some of her properties, such as resin production, while leaving her main qualities and taste intact.

The natives call her “the elephant flattener” and use her stimulating and trippy effects in their religious ceremonies and for hunting. One of the best strains for growing outdoors or in greenhouses, she produces solid buds even under adverse conditions, has a pleasant citrussy taste and is very strong. Very branchy structure and a vigorous grower, she may grow taller than 2.5m high, resulting in very good resin yields."

  • Genotype: 100% Sativa
  • THC: 19%
  • Flowering Time (Indoor): 65-75 days
  • Flavor: Citric fruit
  • Yield: 400g/m² indoor, 800g+ outdoor
  • Effect: Energetic, long-lasting
  • Resistance: Medium mold and pest resistance

ACE Seeds Malawi
(The "dire warning :no_smoking: story” from ACE Seeds website. Smoking is an immediate OSHA violation :skull_and_crossbones:):

"After years of hard work and intense selections with sativas from all around the world, we can confirm that Malawi is the most powerful and psychedelic landrace sativa we know of.

Its dense flowers of enormous trichomes compete with the most powerful sativa/indica and indica hybrids on the market in reference to their size and cannabinoids concentration.

The potency of its flowers is simply devastating, and it is especially recommended for experienced users that seek extreme sativa effects without renounce to an abundant harvest.

DO NOT mix it with alcohol and DO NOT use any dangerous machinery under its effect."

(the disclaimer cracks me up)

  • Genotype: 100% Sativa (P4 Landrace)
  • THC: 24-27%
  • Flowering Time (Indoor): 10-13 weeks
  • Flavor: Oil, wood, lemon, with some plants having sweet carrot or mandarin
  • Yield: High
  • Effect: Extremely potent, intense, and psychedelic; lasting over 4 hours

THE CROSS

The seeds were created by pollinating two WOS Kilimanjaro females with two ACE Malawi males. All four plants were very healthy from the start. The WOS females were uniform in growth, structure, and flowering time. They were fast-growing, resilient to pruning and LST, and more compact than the Malawis. One female had a fruity, citrus, tropical terp profile, while the other had a dank, musky, burnt rubber smell. They both appeared more BLD than the Malawis. Even though the flowers were fully seeded, I sampled the finger hash and was impressed by the pleasant, day lubricating high. Despite the claims, there were no flattened elephants, but the tincture made from these plants has an uplifting effect that transitions into a relaxing warm hug. It was more than I expected.

The ACE males each had a different morphology: one was tall, lanky and slower to flower, with looser flower clusters, while the other was more compact, faster flowering and with denser clusters. Both had a nice stem rub aroma.

Full disclosure: This wasn’t a planned breeding project—I ended up with two male Malawis and thought, “Fuck it. We’re making seeds now.” I have not grown these particular seeds and all the strain information I have comes from the breeders’ descriptions which as I hope I’ve made abundantly clear…take some liberties, at least in terms of genetic makeup.

However, I do believe the genetics are solid, and the resulting cross could appeal to those wanting something with a bit of sativa punch but a shorter flowering period than typical long-flowering strains. I’ve grown the ACE Malawi before and it was really nice smoke. I think the Kilimanjaro would have also been very nice had it not been fully seeded. I had someone tell me the Kilimanjaro was their favorite smoke and they kept a mother with mango terps.

Let me know if you’re interested in these seeds and as long as I can put them in an envelope with a stamp (I’m in the US), I’ll be happy to share! I don’t have a ton of seeds, so it’s first come first serve and then “the ship has sailed” on this once in a lifetime mystical cross. DM me. If you can’t DM, I guess that means you’ve got to hang out a bit and make friends before you can do something like this, but don’t despair. I’ve witnessed incredible generosity and kindness and I’ve only been here a short time! Patience you must have young Padawan. If you CAN DM me, please be patient, too. I’ve got a touch of the tism and sometimes struggle interacting with other humans and doing seemingly normal things.

Rules:

  1. Be cool
  2. Love cannabis
  3. Don’t make it difficult for me
  4. Grow and enjoy
  5. Let me know what you find (Even if it’s to say “Bro, those free seeds you gave me sucked”)
  6. EDIT TO ADD: See rule #1. If you ask for seeds and I check your profile and it’s a million other asks for seeds/cuts and no posts of you actually growing anything or interacting with the community in any other way, I’m going to let you deal with all the genetics you’ve most likely already gathered and give these seeds to someone else. I know this community is very generous and I don’t really want these to just get added to someone’s massive gifted seed hoard.

Hey @LankySativa,

Congratulations on the great work and the topic you shared. You are a good writer, I really enjoyed reading about the history of the strains, the breeding process, and the details about the plants you developed. The way you explained everything was clear and engaging.

Although the seeds from the giveaway have already been claimed, I’m genuinely curious about the plant you created and would love to learn more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with the community.

Sativas are very special for me. If possible Id ask you what motivated you to choose these specific strains for the breeding process?

I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. Best regards!

Damn… that went fast!

Hey, @Coghunter. Thanks for the kind words. My motivation was (and is) that I love the weed I grew up smoking in the 80s and I chose these strains because the advertised effects are closer to what we had back then. Like I said, the breeding was not planned, but I thought people might be interested in the seeds and that’s why I shared them along with my observations. I love this plant, so I keep learning and I keep searching.

Thanks, buddy. I’m happy to have found others here who love weed as much as I do! I’ll grow this cross out and see what happens. The seeds were bought 5+ years ago at a time when I was still naive enough to read a breeder description and be like “Wow! I totally believe this.” I also plan to look into longer flowering pure sativas because I think the source of the magic I love so much is there in the genetics before they were steered towards modern breeding goals.

Sorry, @Trae1170. This is my first time sending seeds out, so I’m only sending out 4 packs of 40. I really didn’t think people were going to be that interested or I would have planned it a little better! If the maiden voyage goes well, I’ll definitely share more seeds from this and more intentional crosses (and straight repros/increases) in the future!

I’m happy myself to see more malawi crosses. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the future breeding and growing: )

No worries! It’s my fault for not being prepared with coin flips and washers. That packaging job was ridiculous…but I wasn’t going to let any get crushed :joy:. Not on my watch. I’m all set for future seed sending now.

I’m excited to see what they do for you.

Upside down pic maybe doesn’t do it justice but it’s a heck of a nice job they were getting here safely no doubt.
Just recently got my first pucs, it sure is nice with the card and a stamp so far no prob.

Hey mates!!

At least you got us flipping our phones—nice workout!
Congrats mate!!

Just passing by, LS. I totally agree with you—it makes perfect sense. I don’t think you can capture all the complexity of these kinds in 10 week’s flowering plants. I love the idea of landraces and old-school genetics; it really turns the whole experience into something magical.
Hope u can go for it!!!
