It shouldn’t – if anything the remaining material gets more delivery from the same root mass.
Mostly. The one time I did a light dep April harvest was the best quality because it never got hot enough to flash off the lighter volatile flavors/smells.
It’s more about temperature than arid-ness; freeze driers preserve flavor but dry things quick. they’re expensive. 2 weeks is my normal target, but definitely seen it dry in a day or two ![]()
The supposed holy grail is 60 deg. F and 60%RH but I’ve never had access to that.
Could be the strain, could be the temps, hard to say.
I’ve been growing in promix with synthetics in Hawaii for 2 years & have to say my soil grown CA bud was a million times better, even with too-high temps for drying.
When I get back to the mainland I’ll definitely do a side-by-side comparison with a clone just to confirm this.
I gave up on bovedas & the other ones
seem to take away flavor.
