I am an organic soil grower, but not a no till guy. I have a massive compost pile, so I till everything, into that, lol.

I started with bagged soil and organic liquid nutrients. I then moved on to KNF nutrients and recycling my soil. Now I’m using the no-till methods. We all have our own journey.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s way better. But to put it into perspective, you are building your soil, and there is a sense of satisfaction that comes with good results. The more you use your soil the better it gets. You are also not having to dump all of your dirt every round, and buy gallons of nutrients. I find that no tilling works for me, and it makes me satisfied. My brother grows with new millennium nutrients, and his grow is fire too! So its a matter of preference. But once you go no till, its hard to look back. Good clean smoke, no flushing, no having to bother with PH.

It’s all about what you have readily available. What are you trying to get out of it? What do you like about the type of growing you have learned already? What don’t you like? I found that i was led to No-till because I didn’t like the idea of all of the waste and excess that goes into the typical growing methods. When i was being taught how to grow, i was taught to dump the old soil. Also the idea of having to waste all of that precious water at the end of the flowering cycle, never sat well with me. I grew that way for a while, because it is what i knew and what i had access to.

(Edited for grammar. )

That sounds like me I was taught to grow with nutrients run to waste which does just waste precious water I don’t like all the waste in soil or hydroponics trying to live healthier happier cleaner more pure.

Once I found no-till I knew it was where I wanted to be. I don’t see me changing anything other than scale anytime soon. I’m only on my second cycle, but have been studying a lot. Some books that I enjoyed while studying were Teaming with Microbes, The One Straw Revolution, What a Plant Knows, and currently enjoying Eating the Sun.

@miyagi, it’s very generous of you to help teach no-till. I’m sure we can all learn something together.

No doubt, its all about spreading the knowledge! I have read the One Straw Farmer, and that book changed the way I look at things. I still haven’t finished Teaming with Microbes. Both great books, I will look into those other ones for sure!
