Hi guys, I’m no stranger to the cannabis world. I’ve been growing since the aughts (2000). I had an original OverGrow account. Been a while since I’ve been able to grow. I’m getting back into it now. Been collecting seeds and prepping. Studying the new scene. Learning about LEDs, and how they have come a long way, and are the most efficient lights on the market nowadays. What I’m wondering is if they “can grow the same huge, dense buds I grew in '06”, when I had an Eye Hortilux 1000W Super HPS, with the P.L. 1000W reflector?
I say Yes you can grow the same huge dense buds under LED as you did under HPS; maybe even better.

I switched from 1KW Hortilix HPS to Fluence Spydr x about 6 years ago.
C99 bud on a plant that will be cut Sunday morning.
On paper yes, but almost every hid grower ive ever seen switch to led is not happy with the first couple runs. They all come around eventually tho, your environment has to be dialed in.
Welcome to OG @TenaciousJames . I would say sure you can. I love my LEDs. Here are 4 plants under LEDs.
LEDs are very easy to use. Some are very inexpensive. You don’t have to worry about the heat. I do miss it during the cold season. But at the same time I can run a heater. Don’t miss the extra fan for the hood.
For a tent leds work better all self contained closed system for decent colas as most pics represent but a room or warehouse with decent ceiling height hids all day long over leds for chunkers
I am in the exact same boat as you i am from the hps and fluros for undercanopy for the last part of flower also been doing the same been rebuilding my seed stock, prepping i love that ![]()
from the amazing people i have met in the cannabis comunity around the world that wanna help and share there knowledge its 100% possible 2 companies that i have been watching with there massive rnd projects to recreate hps and beeter are now hitting the bench mark and and going further one being grandmaster leds and also mammoth lighting leds ans jave been following peoples grow logs using these two guys with some amazing results like i know it not just the lights it also genetics finding that right pheno and your nutrient line being organic or salts lines or a combination its also dailing in to that strain or pheno that you have hunted yourself or gotten a cut from someone evrything takes time and patients rill you have it all working harmoniously together
Personally, I’ve found plants to be happier under HID’s, you can get a good result under LEDs but it requires more fine tuning. Plant deficiencies seem more prone to showing themselves under LEDs has been my experience. Having said that I got a nice haul from the AK47 I grew last year under 200w LED.
Personally I find hps grows bigger but led grows denser so at end of day not gaining or losing much weight either way just different structures that’s my 2c
