Hi everyone!
This is my fourth grow cycle, but my first time with a photoperiod plant — until now, I’ve only grown autoflowers. I decided to start this diary to keep track of the plant’s development and my own learning process.
The seed was a gift from a friend, and according to him, it’s a feminized Lemon OG photoperiod. I’m growing it in a 60x60x140 tent, using coco coir (inert medium) as substrate. For nutrients, I’m using a mix of Plant Prod and Calcium Nitrate.
I’ll keep this diary updated with pictures, grow environment info, feeding schedule, and personal notes. Any tips or feedback are more than welcome!
Today I did a heavy defoliation — removed quite a few fan leaves, especially the ones blocking airflow or shading lower parts of the plant. I also installed my first SCROG net! It’s my first time trying this, so I really hope I didn’t mess things up too badly.
So far, the plant seems to be responding well. I’m excited to see how it goes in the coming days.
Update #2 – 3 Days After Defoliation and SCROG Setup
It’s been 3 days since I did the defoliation and installed the SCROG net, and so far, the plant seems to be recovering really well. She’s spreading out nicely, showing good growth, and adjusting to the structure.
I’m relieved to see a positive response — it definitely boosts my confidence to keep training and learning through this first photoperiod grow.
Update #3 Move to New Grow Tent
Today I moved the plant into a new grow tent! Now she’s growing in a bigger space, measuring 80x80x180 cm, which should give her more room to stretch.
I also upgraded the lighting: I’m now using a 240W XYO LM301H LED.
Until now, she’s been under an 18/6 light cycle, but today I plan to switch her to 12/12 to start the flowering phase!
The plant remains in coco coir as the growing medium, and I’m still using salts for nutrients.
Here’s my current nutrient mix per liter of water:
PlantProd: 1.15g
Calcium Nitrate: 0.85g
I’m watering twice a day, keeping the coco nicely moist without overwatering.
Excited to see how she adapts to the new environment!
If anyone has any tips or suggestions to help improve the grow during this new phase, I’d really appreciate it! Any advice is more than welcome.
About the light — I’m liking it a lot! It does get a little hot sometimes (hehehe), but I have a good exhaust fan that handles it well, so no big deal.
On my last run, I grew 3 Crystal Meth autos and got some pretty nice results:
Around 93g per plant
About 1.17g per watt
Overall, super happy with how it performed!
Lemon OG was one of the 1st 4 plants we grew, we love that strain. Who made the seeds? Ours was from Mendocino Farms, was pretty good but wasn’t the same (flavor wise) as what we had purchased at a dispensary before we started to grow.
Lemon OG is a great strain for sure.
The seed I’m growing came from Seedsman. It was a gift from a friend, so I’m excited to see how it turns out.
I’ve heard different versions of Lemon OG can have some variation in flavor too — hope this one leans towards the classic.
Update #4 – 3 Days into 12/12 and Automatic Watering System
It’s been 3 days since I switched to 12/12, and from what I can see, the plant is doing really well!
My lights are set to turn on at 11am and off at 11pm.
I also installed an automatic watering system, set to irrigate 4 times a day at: 7am, 12pm, 5pm, 10pm.
Everything seems to be running smoothly so far. If anyone has tips or suggestions for this phase, I’d love to hear them!
The plant seems to be doing really well! It’s growing nicely and starting to push out the first flowers. I’m really excited to see how this next phase develops.
The plant is now 15 days into flowering, growing fast and stretching a lot.
I’m a bit unsure about when I should defoliate. I’ve read here on OG that many people recommend doing a good leaf removal around day 21 of flowering, but I’m still undecided if I should go for it or wait a bit longer.
