I donā€™t know if Iā€™m going to make it out there today. My brotherā€™s got to fix a leek in someoneā€™s tub.

Yeah its best early morning or as the sun sets. Bugs were bad. Just them damn flies. No ticks this time. Also weekends the ppl at quarry dont usually work so on weekends its even less a chance of anyone saying anything. Not many ppl fish there. Usually i dont see noone there once in a while theres one or 2 ppl at the ponds. Ive taken a 8" aluminum boat back there n all.

Yeah i dont ever catch sunfish. Youre using live bait? As you go up the first side of that pond right after you turn to go around it split right theres 3 more ponds. But that first one usually good. That pic the shallow corner. It gets about 8-10 ft deep at other corner.

See how that bass has a big head and a small body? Normally that means there are too many bass in there and not enough food. They will canibalize each other tho. There bee some monsters in that pond

Told you. Bass are there. Theres some big ones in there. But lotta lil ones too.

Hey @rooted , back when I was an avid fisher. Iā€™d toss a net out and catch up whatever the bass were eating as their food source. They almost always hit on it when ya ran a hook through it, and drop it in front of em lol

Yeah that might be why they like the baby bass color berkley general worms. Thats what i usually use. That n frogs. Got one on that big topwater spider they sell at walmart too.

Yeah i seen cicadas landing in water. Less than 30 seconds n theyd hit em but wouldnt touch the frog today.

yep, them cicadas are the ā€˜treat of the dayā€™ , they prob eat the hell outta the frogs. So this is a new food to break the monotony lol drop one in front of that big ol fattie!
and if ya want a fun fight, use a fly rod lol

editā€¦ Got a 6&1/2 lb largemouth with a fly rod lol took over an hour to land that fella. Released of course, wasnā€™t in the mood for fish.

Catch &release is a good deal. I never keep fish I catch. I caught an 8 3/4 pound largemouth last year that is back in the place I caught her. I figure if I want fish I can get it at the grocery store. Thatā€™s great! Let someone else get the same thrill I got with this fish? PRICELESS!!

Catch-n-release was what I mostly did. Now and then, if out camping, Iā€™d cook up a nice one fresh caught. But naw, the fun was in the catching.

Aye @LilJonB
You need to learn how to take fishing fotos the old school way.
Stand directly in front of the camera and hold the fish out at armā€™s length toward the camera. Makes you smaller in the background and the fish looks huge. Try it! I think they call it forced perspective now, but we used to call it fish stories. Haha

Hell, I once caught one so damn big, the picture weighed 7lbs!

editā€¦ oh wait, thatā€™s a ā€˜fish storyā€™ :sunglasses:
