Sorry we are kinda starting late, but as the saying goes ‘better late than never’. Here is the current goings on in my tents. I have a 2x4 for veg, which right now is housing several clones which are all a bit hurting, but recovering, a couple of Grapefruitz (Cookies Seeds) seedlings and 3 more of the Grapfruitz seeds germinating.
For flowering I have a 2.5’ x 5’ foot with a 400w light hanging. Two 6" clip fans pushing air around the tent, a 4" inline fan for air intake and a 6" inline fan for exhaust, both with carbon filters. Currently in there is 2 Garlic Breath and 2 Versus (this is part of a pheno hunt with a friend). Most of this is going to go to hash production, but a bit is going to be dried and cured to see how the flower comes out.
Thank you, it is appreciated. They were all flowered out a bit on the late side, which wasn’t much of a problem for the Versus, but the Garlic Breaths were way too big when flowering, they don’t like that much light intensity. But then again, not too many home grows occur within perfect parameters.
The kind words are appreciated. I was surprised to see how cookies-esque the Garlic Breath grows. But then again the Medno Breath has a similar structure, but its the light sensitivity that surprised me. They were too tall and got too close to the light and the stress is visible in the bud structure. The finished product will have almost no cookies traits thankfully, so I was not totally expecting the extent of the cookies traits that come through in the cross. But it will be good at the end regardless.
Ok, not much going on in here so lets give an update of what is going on in the veg. Lets start with some before and after pics. So here is what the tent looked like 3 days ago
The new growth on the clones is really taking off, honestly faster than I would like. I need them to hold off for at least 2 more weeks before anyone can even think about being moved. Trying to take the Garlic Breath to at least 60 days before I take them down. We are at day day 42 now.
The first two seedlings are doing well and growing strong. The other 3 that were germinated later are doing alright, both still have the seed casing stuck to the cotyledon, I am thnking that is something that will be seen more when doing a germination outside of the planting medium. The two that were planted earlier popped out of the soil with no seed casing attached. I have seen this before and I do typically use a paper towel germination. Something else to test in the future.
Things are definitely starting to get interesting in the tents, hopefully they stay that way for a while.
Even though nobody’s watching I figure I’ll give a flower tent update.
The girls are starting to swell their bracts and putting on that final weight and trichome coverage. But this round I am a trichome farmer not a flower farmer. Most of this run is going to be made into hash as these days I prefer smoking hash or taking rosin dabs. Both of these varieties are meant to be washers. I keep wondering how much dry weight I would have pulled this round, but I probably won’t find out. I do not have a freezer that I can properly freeze the material in, so its probably get washed right as it comes off the plant. But it will be great to have a solid hash stash from this.
Here is the Garlic Breath, starting to change colors and getting ready for the chop.
And now the Versus girls, this one is a real chunker and would definitely be a good option for growing flower if yield is the desired trait, these are some fat buds. The smell on here is interesting, not my favorite and I think a bit overpowered by the Garlic Breath in there. So for her it will be all about the hash she makes.
Ok so looks like I am a bit overdue for an update.
The bloom tent is coming to a close, the Versus plants will come down either Friday or Saturday and the Garlic Breath girls will come down the following Friday or Saturday unless they tell me they are ready other wise. I am looking forward to this harvest and to have some good hash on hand agsin. I love my rosin, but in my opinion there is nothing as good as a gooey temple ball.
Veg is coming along as well. The plants are all doing quite well, asking for a bit extra food, particularly calcium. I am rather impressed with how the Grapefruitz are doing. I didn’t have the highest hopes being from Cookies, but the growth is rather vigorous and surprisingly uniform. One of thr 4 plants is lagging behind a bit, but it had a bit of trouble breaking the soil surface originally; it was also germinated in a paper towel. On that note. I think I may be done with paper towel geemination, I like it for the fact I can see when and if the seeds germinate, but I believe the transfer to their next home is just a bit too stressful and gives the plant a hiccup at the start causing stunted and weaker growth. So I plan on giving the seeds a 12 hour soak and then into their forst home to do their thing.
The blue cups were started later than the red cups by 9 days and were also germinated in a paper towel. Feel free to compare the results in your own.
Harvest day!!! The two Versus plants came down. It defitely happened a few days later than I would have liked; today was day 64 and they should have come down day 56. Most of it is now in the freezer awaiting the wash, but I kept one branch from each plant to try as flower smoke. I don’t know if I will grow her again, she isn’t exactly my taste in flavor or plant structure. In my opinion her tops just get too big and dense, too easy to get bud rot. But lets see how the hash comes out. Anyway here’s some pics.
@BlindCatHermit Thanks, I am hoping for a good wash. There is that moment as the chop is happening where it feels kinda weird to not be cleaning the plant up for a hang dry. But these days I am more into hash than flower.
@ClandestinLEE I am impressed with the Garlic Breath too, the colorsnare amazing and it put on way more weight than I had expected early in flower. I wish I had smell-o-vision because these girls smell amazing.
Thank you. All of the plants really held themselves up quite nicely despite the weight they had to hold up. The lower branches on the Versus plants deffinitely bent at the end there, but that just opened up the lower bud sites to get a bit more light to finish out. The Garlic Breath branches are very much beginning to bend under their weight as well, but its the whole branch rather than a bend ‘x’ distance up the branch. Even though its 25% Cookies I do enjoy Garlic Breath, the GMO dolinates the flavor and effect.
Thanks for the compliment. I much prefer growing in a room, but I will probably always have a tent going. It was the first space I had to really grow in (I still have that tent) and I will always find a good reason to have one going.
I like your Bio365 sticker, for a bit those ones were pretty hard to come by. The glow in the dark ones are pretty cool too. But I would personally never put stickers in my tent, for one I am too OCD and it would bug me out, but it makes it harder to clean the walls in there and cuts down on some of the reflectivity. I have a pretty extensive sticker collection myslef currently in an envelope, but I should probably put them in some kind of binder. Is that tent a HighDroGro tent?
