Just received my first order. So far, very impressed with the solubility. Just finished a pallet of GH Flora Bloom 2 part dry and didn’t care for it. It was very difficult to dissolve and like the athena product, you are locked into their CalNit. Having the micros in the calnit makes it clumpy and messy IMHO. Probably why both GH and Athena recommend making a stock solution. This is obviously the ideal way to go, but not all of us mix that way. I still mix a batch tank every day with dry inputs. This is just more convenient and space efficient for me.
I’m mixing 7 grams per gallon Flower and 4.2 calnit for a target EC of 3.0
About 120 for the bloom and 33 for the Calnit for a 50 lb. Of ea. You need to buy enough to justify a pallet. So far , I’m finding it much more soluble than gh and Athena. About the same as jacks. Very dusty, small granules. Could do without the blue dye in it. I also have a 50lb bag of their calcium chloride to drop the nitrogen off in ripening ala Athena’s fade. This company also makes knock offs of sanidate and zerotol.
I started using jacks classic 5-12-26 in 2015, have used it religiously with their 15.0.0, then switched to the yara liva calnit. Tried Athena when it came out, love the program, not the cost. Have run trials of a few 2 parts and find little difference in performance, but differences in solubility and stability in the bag after opening.
I educated myself about fert, and go for the best value that meets my needs. Jacks was less than 60 a bag back in the day.
I’m about 3 weeks into using this product. I am quite pleased. I’m not expecting any real differences between this product and any of the other quality 2 part formulas out there. I saw no difference between Jacks, Athena, or GH’s 2 parts in quality or yield. I buying on price, and am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the ingredients. This is the most soluble part A I have used. The fertilizer is very fine, has zero clumps in it and appears to be very, very well blended. I will be able to use straight calcium chloride, which is ridiculously cheap during the final ripening stage to facilitate the reduction in nitrogen.
This product allows me to run a formula very close to athenas program for about 30% the cost of it.
I don’t know that you have to buy a pallet. Probably can get single 50 lb bags. I just ordered enough to make the shipping more reasonable. I will inquire next time I talk to the sales rep there.
It’s called a protec pot. It is a fabric pot with a drawstring mesh. Very good at keeping bugs out. They can keep root aphids and other root dwellers from spreading from pot to pot as well. I have had some trouble getting them. Another victim of the bs tariffs.
They charged me 50.00 plus shipping a bag in 2016 . That’s for the 5-12-26 and the 15.0.0 in 25# bags. But even at 100.00 a bag its a great value. except the calnit. lol
Ok, Morr will ship a single 50# bag but it is going to cost about 40.00 bringing the total cost of the part A to probably 175. The part B would be 75.00. So roughly 250.00 for 50# of ea.
I have gone through my first 50# of it and don’t plan on changing back to jacks at this point. This is for no reason other than cost. I am a commercial facility in a very competitive market. Every penny counts. We just ordered a full pallet of their coir blocks that are blended chip and fiber to achieve a 62%water holding capacity.
I have not tried them, that price is for a 25# bag, the americore is $122. and the americal is 33.00 for 50# bags of each. I have heard great things about the croptech product. This whole 2 part dry thing is nothing new. JR peters has had the 5-12-26 hydro formula out forever, much longer than athena has been in biz.
