Looking for Acapulco Gold

Hi all. I’m looking for a seed line that is authentic Acapulco Gold. Something that harkens back to its hay day and wasn’t crossed with other things. Something that is pure Acapulco Gold.

I’m considering buying some from ExoticAlchemy, but they don’t offer any info on it that I can find so I’m nervous I might regret it.

Anybody know a good source for some real deal Acapulco Gold?

Anybody have experience with ExoticAlchemy?

There are a lot of topics on the Acapulco Gold on this forum… the closest to the original are the Bodhi/MMS and Snowhigh versions

Don’t know if the Alchemy version is related to those two

Growing both (MMS/Bodhi and Snowhigh) right now plus the HCG version.

Was wondering the exact same thing actually, just sent exotic a message about their AG before stumbling upon this thread, we’ll see if they respond

Yeah so did I. Hopefully we’ll get some clarity. This strain looks pretty fun to see through start to finish.

The fem Acapulco Gold from Nukeheads in Co., is a plant I thought was really close to some of the A.G. I smoked in late 70’s, 80-81

Odd owner, without a doubt; but it is a legit Sativa with a truly unique & yet familiar flavour.

fyi it crushed Barney’s fem version. (Nothing against Barneys/ also tried to run a third strain, it never made it; MSNL)

Good Luck guys

OG’s have stated this looks like it was crossed with a Kashmir. Fast flowering

Big yield from a 5.5’ tall plant

That’s funny you mentioned him I’ve grown quite a few plants in the past of some nuke heads usually pretty decent. There are some wild rumors regarding him that’s for sure

I’ve had Strange responses from them, out of the blue…

Purple Dawn was amazing, now its not available and is being used only in breeding.

Their Pine Tar Kush is KILLER @Headies12green

Cheers Bro

I would concur re: Barneys. Not bad but not landrace. Probably about a third nepali or something else. Good weed, but not what we had in the 70’s.

Haha yeah man people either love or hate Cody but personally they never ripped me off or sold me crappy genetics. There are certainly horror stories out there but doesn’t surprise me these days. I remember nuclear dawn genetics which carried that strain and used to have a YouTube page. As far as the Acapulco, I’m sure Barney’s has some seeds worth giving a shot. That’s another breeder with people having hot or cold experiences but always fine from my experience.

My older brother is just hitting his sixties im 43 myself ive never partaked in 70s weed he always told me about the older stuff .i was a late 80s to 90s kid by 89 all the exotic import weed was long gone with the exception of the mexican Brick that was nowhere near the caliber of the Exotic import like the Acupulco the Michoacan and the Colombians Punto Rojas ect.He told me that The old Acapulco gold was always blasted with seed like someone hit it with birdshot but it still got you Completely zorched.Told me a pinner would last you and a friend or two half the day the colombian people would smoke pinners in a station wagon with 5 or 6 people in it for a clambake and be stuck in car unable to move for hours glued to the leather interior.Did you have any similar experiences?when did you notice the shift on how weed was morphing into this high thc monster it is today?

I was in the Air Force in the late 70s, and good weed often found its’ way to us courtesy of government flights. The Thai Stick, AG, Michoacan, and Columbian Gold really stood out from the usual Columbian brick weed.

Might be nice to know that “acapulco gold” never existed in Mexico. It apparently comes from Guererro state.

Barneys farms sells knock offs of acapulco gold read the description as well as follow the grow journals nothing screams what the real AG is like especially with flower development as well as the super long flowering time there are people who sell fake or super watered down Jamaican Lambs Bread then we have some people who actually have the real deal that flowers forever like 18+ weeks I am sure passed 22 weeks depending on phenotype

Well its been a minute but what I remember most is life before Skunk. Or at least before indica was mixed with everything. The high was more up and talkative with the old mexican weed. Still call it mexican giggle weed. The old Colombian strains were much more intraspective and trippy, likewise the thai but more electric, but the aromas were what I miss the most. Weed did not smell like a skunk. At least not to me. Church incense would be the best descriptor I can come up with now.
I am not saying anything bad about what we have now and old people miss their youth but when I smell a bag of Oaxacan pearl stem I get a whiff of the old days.

Yup. Marketing has been with us forever.

Completely scandalous and controversial but here it is if you want to take the risk.
