Looking for advice on collecting pollen

A while back a friend have me a couple beans of granite haze f6 from his feminized speedrunseeds auto pack and while I thought I had a stressed out Hermie on my hands it actually turned out to be a male. (People have been telling me this is like a 1% chance?!?)

That being said what is the most effecient way to collect and dry my pollen? I’ve got centrifuge containers on the way for storage and I have a vac sealer so I think I’ve got that out of the way. I’ve also heard people talking about mixing pollen with flour? Not sure I want to do that but just wanted to consult with the great council of OG before I messed something up

Edit: ^^ or that.

I’m still learning, but I did a lot better last grow by putting down a large sheet of foil, shaking all the plants over foil, then folding it in the middle and shaking it out on a smaller piece of foil. Then I did the same thing to get it into a shot glass. Dried it out for a few days.

Next, get some sifted flour, spread it out on a piece of foil and bake it at 250°F for ten minutes. Once it’s completely cool, mix it with the pollen, put it in the centrifuge container and put it in the fridge. Whenever you’re done, put all your centrifuge containers in the freezer for long-term storage. I highly recommend the flour, for extra protection from moisture.

I just tap the branch over an open envelope & put it in a ziploc in the fridge. Then use a small paintbrush to apply later.

I use a piece of glass from a picture frame and put it under the flowers and lightly tap the branch I got the glass under. Then I wave the glass side to side and the flowers come off the glass and leave most of the pollen. It does waste some pollen. Depends on how much you want to collect Mr Dawson has a box and sifter if I’m not mistaken. Best to use right away but if storing you can put in small pieces of parchment paper and put the them in an airtight container and freeze for long term use. Not sure how long it will last in the fridge. Maybe put some rice in the container. Then when you use you can just take out 1 parchment paper instead of a big container. Some put in cool dark place but that’s if your using pretty soon. That’s crazy a male from Speedrun. I’m about to start some of there seeds soon.

All very good suggestions. Thank you my friends

Trim bin…

Doesn’t get easier than using a tool you already have laying around.

Cut branches beat the hell out of it over your trim bin screen and collect once you’re done. Let sit in low humidity and absolutely no reason to cut with anything. Still using pollen that’s 5+ years old with excellent results.

Store in your freezer in a Tupperware container with individual centrifuge tubes and be sure when you go to use it you let it come to room temp and wipe any condensation before using.

Golden! Good luck!
