Im new to growing, this is my 2nd season and I grow outdoors and the average season is from May to October/ end of October…last year ( my 1st attempt ) i got just over 4 ounces from 5 plants …this year i have 7 plants and they are between 2-4 weeks into their flowering/budding cycle…i have 1 plant that will yield more than the 5 i had last year…
Anyway I’ve read multiple things about how to judge when to harvest…i have the equipment to see the tricomes and from what I have gathered is they start out clear and then turn to a cloudy milky color then amber /brown…
Correct me if im wrong please…the optimal time to harvest is when the tricomes are milky white and some are turning amber/brown also the pistels are turning brown…mind you everything i read says 70%milky white-30%amber/brown tricomes…i forgot the percentage of the pistels turning brown…
PLEASE DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE THAT I CAN USE AS AN EXAMPLE…im using a x60-x90 jeweller’s loupe (magnifying glass…
Im looking for pics of what both tricomes and pistels color stages that are examples of —TO EARLY TO HARVEST - OPTIMAL TIME TO HARVEST - PAST OPTIMAL TIME BEGINNING OF THC POTENCY DEGRATION …

Here are a couple shots I took this morning. Some amber, mostly cloudy, could come down today but waiting three more days to chop on day 84F.
This is where preference comes into play, how do you prefer your smoke?
These were taken with a Iphone10 with a jeweler’s lope held up to the lens.
Best way to get help is to post some pictures when they get closer to finishing is to post in here, many will chime in. With the further plants being in the 4th week, you have time to lurk and decide.
You can also take a branch off at 9, 10 and 11 weeks to see which you like more for the next run. Hope this helps brotha!
Optimal harvest time also depends on what you’re doing with it. For example bubble hash makes a cleaner, lighter hash with more clear and cloudy trichs than amber colored
Theres some good images in here:
