Looks like it's back in his lymph nodes.....need advice on so many things

Newby here and need to vent/share. We are about to start our first indoor grow and have been derailed this week by a scary medical situation and need advice on an easy indoor grow strain and CBD/THC/Terpenes that might be beneficial. Also want to share this Cancer journey in case someone else is dealing with similar symptoms or can relate or give advice.

Long story short, my early 40’s husband had an ER visit for a kidney stone back in 2016 which also revealed a large kidney tumor (Renal Cell Carcinoma - which is TYPICALLY a cancer of much older people). He was in the military and lived a crazy life back in the day that exposed him to all kinds of substances/chemicals so we chalked it up to toxic exposure of some sort.

Tumor was removed, no radiation, no chemo needed, it was gone and done. Follow-up scans showed no recurrence, however during the first 5 yrs post-op the scans all showed an area of tiny millimeter sized lymph nodes that reacted (lit-up) on CT. Oncologist said “We will just keep an eye on them, and if they don’t grow you will one day die of something else”. Year 6 the lymph nodes weren’t there at all or were too tiny to show up, same for year 7, so scans were stopped and we were told, “Congrats, you’re cancer free”!! At least until yesterday… :frowning:

Fast forward to late 2024 when he developed a random DVT (blood clot) in his leg. Random because he has no risk factors, not sedentary, no surgery, no travel, yada yada yada, this man runs all day everyday, incredibly active. So 8+ months on blood thinners and two ultrasounds later and the clot is bigger. So back into the CT machine he went since RECURRENT cancer can make blood thicker and cause clots, who knew (we didn’t!)? Well, the DVT was a blessing in disguise since yesterday’s abdominal CT scan showed all those tiny reactive lymph nodes, they’re BACK and now one of them is BIG which is very concerning for metastatic spread of his original Cancer or lymphoma of some sort.

All that to say, we are already physically and mentally stretched thin and overwhelmed by life (aren’t we all) and now this has derailed us as anyone that has dealt with Cancer can attest. The uncertainty, the medical appointments, medical opinions, referrals, treatments, insurance, medical bills, time off from work, etc. It’s all just exhausting, it’s the first thing you think about in the morning and also your last thought when you lay your head down at night.

So now more than ever we need to cut ties with the dispensary and get this indoor grow going! Normally we would over analyze this entire process and attempt to grow the perfect specimen plant, but right now we just need to handle the basics…light, food, water, etc. We need a sturdy variety that doesn’t need to be babysat 24/7. Any recommendations? Also, a high CBD strain that might benefit the lymphatic system yet still has plenty of THC would be great!

Thanks for the vent and for any advice on how to make this grow as simple as possible!

My suggestion isn’t weed related but based on science and anecdotal evidence. The longest living populations (before globalization) were those that ate a diet high in healthy fat (fish, meat, and olives and nuts) while consuming low amounts of carbohydrates in the form of complex sugar, aka fruit and vegetables. Some Greek cultures lived into their 70-90’s back when average age was around 45

Now some real science

A tldr, simple explanation is this. Cancer needs energy to reproduce. Cancer loves glucose because it’s very very easy to absorb and reproduce with. Cancer can not use ketones for energy (but your brain, organs and muscles can). Instead while your in ketosis your body produces a steady level of glucose through a process called glycogenesis, that converts protein into essential glucose for the brain.

If you’ve heard of diabetic ketoacidosis, keto is not that. It’s a fasting state that exists in humans because we had to survive over winter without access to fruit and veggies. Many people fear the word keto because of the diabetic ketoacidosis not knowing that they are not similar, one is a healthy way of eating, the out is your bodys failure to produce insulin which causes a cascade of issues. Fun fact, keto diet was invented in the 70’s to treat diabetes before insulin was invented.

So in my opinion. The strongest anti cancer alternative medicine treatment you can do, is starving the cancer of essential fuel (glucose) and limiting cancers ability to replicate. Giving your body, western medication and alternative medications a shot to work

Best of luck

Yes! I’ve had great success with the Keto diet both for weight loss and lowering bad cholesterol and triglycerides. This info is fabulous as I had never thought about the role ketosis might play starving cancer cells. Will definitely be sharing this information with him. Thanks so much! REALLY appreciate this!

Growing out some shakedown street from bodhi (chem D x wookie) and it’s definitely one of the hardier strains ive grown. Didnt see any intersex in the f1 and i was a bit rough on them flowering out in 4 fl oz pots while trying to dial in the self watering system i was building.

Leans more towards a daytime effect but good for pain relief.

Bodhis hashplant crosses are also awesome relaxing plants if thats more your thing.

Brothers grim also has g13 genius which imo smokes similar to some of bodhi’s hashplant crosses but is available as fems. One of the few plants I’ve successfully run outdoors in the north east so i know theyre hardy.

Sorry to hear of your husband’s condition.

after reading through your thread a few things come to mind. for starters, i am not a doctor, but was a medic in the army many years ago. i no longer work in that field, but have been caring for sick relatives for a number of years now and have been using ganja to assist with slowing their process down, assisting with symptoms, as well as add some quality of life benefits.

I can’t at this point in my research say that ganja is a cure all, but will also not discount outliers who have found a cure in cannabis. it has and does happen (and i am pleased they do - this is an amazing plant we have been blessed with). From my experience, I will not say it as cure-all, but will remark that in my experiences it is VERY useful for a number of symptoms and still surprises us as we discover more.

That all being said, i have a few strain suggestions for you, but would still encourage you to continue with your own research with clear head.

THC/CBD STRAINS
Grandaddy Purple “GDP” - a very easy grow, hearty plant that produces (in my opinion at least) some of the best medicine. though it has more THC than CBD, it has a really good balance of both and a terpene profile that helps with so many symptoms for a lot of different ailments.
I may know a guy with some seeds.

Northern Lights - this one is another easy grow, hearty plant. another plant with good blend of THC and CBD that works well in the medical sphere. there are several people working with this. check with @Hashpants he had some reversed seed. I am actually growing one of his outdoors right now.

Blue Dream - super easy grow. extremely vigorous, big producer. a great balanced hybrid that has medicinal properties/uses. one of abuela’s favorites.
There are several cuts running around OG.

CBD STRAINS
Harlequin - This is a well known medicinal CBD strain. there were some seeds floating around here last time they did a veterans giveaway. I don’t have any experience with it, but it’s pretty popular. a lot of people like and use it.

Charlottes Web - Another well known. Very high CBD. good for relaxation and anxiety. I have not seen this one around, but i haven’t looked very hard. someone here has some or can point you in the right direction. my pathway required more high THC and specific terpene profiles. but i think within the next 5yrs i’m going to be playing with CBD plants to make some crosses with what i’m currently working on.

Dr.Seedsman - this one is a high CBD. I have sampled it, but i think @Coffin_Dodger has grown it out and may have some insights on it’s effects. seedsman had a few other lower dose CBD strains that i have grown out. both the cream and cheese and purple kush cbd. between those two i liked the purple kush cbd. nice strong and lasting effects for such low dosage (7% thc / 7% cbd) easier grow as well.

i wish you well on your journey. I think you have come to the right place. a lot of friendly, generous and helpful people here with some good seed, cuts and sage advice.

Welcome to OG.

So sorry to hear about this. My anecdote will echo the previous keto diet thread . However being that its renal your doc may say no. RSO homemade combined with conventional treatments worked very well for a friend of ours. I made quick RSO - theres some videos on YT you can get it done in a day once you have harvested buds. I believe Simpson recommended High THC Indica. I pray for his health returning. Good luck .

I echo keto/no sugar and rso, perhaps suppository so that he can immediately titrate up to the regime of 1 gram per day

You said veteran…is he 100%? PACT act?

Hope y’all find something that works

Yeah good point man and although it sounds a little selfish, taking care of yourself needs to be a priority. I think any good homegrown herb is going to provide relief whether it’s a sativa for mental relaxation or heavy indica for body and nerve relief

Sorry to hear about the return of cancer in your husband.

It depends on the number of varieties you’d like to grow. A 3x3 with a 300w light works well with 4 plants in 3gallons pots or stuffed to the max with 25 in one gallon polys

Basic needs;
Tents, The bigger the tent I prefer to get quality, I went with Spiderfarmer, no issues. Smaller tents like a 3x3 or 2x2, I choose cheap ones as I barely flower in them.

Light will range from 150-600$ depends on what you want/need.
Full coverage is best but I still have yet to get one that covers all .

Exhaust fan w/carbon filter to venting and odor control.
I like my 4in a/c infinity cloud series for my 5x5.

More fans
Two fans inside the tent for air movement. One above canopy and below.
I use the cheap 20$ honey wells.

Surge protected strip to plug in too.

Soil has a bunch of options from Fox Farm to Build a soil)

Nutrients, plenty to choose from as well.
I keep it simple with Fox Farms trio, I may switch to something else but a good start point. I forget the other popular ones.

Watering schedule:
Water only, wait three days, feed, wait three days, water only.

Sturdy variety ideas.
I havent explored the CBD plants yet. I forgot who it was but they had 20:1 CBD or has worked on a CBD line. Some may remember better than me.

Super Silver Haze is one that can take some neglect and still produce fine.
Blue Dream is a favorite of mine, already mentioned.
Afgooey,Just ran these and took the licks, kept on ticking.

Bunch of people are working on something here. I’m sure you won’t have a problem getting something that will work for you and your husband.
Hope this helps!

So sorry to hear of the return, especially so after been given a
“all is good” prognosis. Charlotte’s Web is one I was going to say as @Til_Valhalla already mentioned.

Here is a link for some I found at North Atlantic Seed Co. I’ve purchased other seeds from them before.

North Atlantic Seed Co has some. I just checked their site, as this
strain is one I’ve heard is high in cbd with a nice mix of thc as well.

I also know someone who did very well on an RSO regiment. Ive been curious if a full plant extract into something like coconut or olive oil would have similar effects

Very interesting, will definitely check that out! Thanks so much!

I’m ok, it just never is a good time for something like this to happen. Totally agree w/ Headies12green and plan to lean on the heavy indica, sleep is the hardest. Thanks so much for asking!

No, but he was at Lejeune for a short time, but it was years after the well water issue. He also worked as a plumber for quite some time and was likely exposed to benzene, asbestos, and who knows what else. He also didn’t take great care of himself and partied too hard for many years, so we always assumed it was somehow related to past lifestyle choices since the majority of his time in the USMC was stateside. Thanks so much for the info, am looking into RSO as we speak!

sorry to hear this have a good friend going thru a similar thing right now he had melanoma it was gone for years stopped looking and now has many many tumors. like said above i am not a doctor but have been going down rabbit holes for a while
RSO- Rick Simpson run from the cure
no sugar at all sugar feeds cancer it creates an acidic environment cancer will thrive in that
raise the PH in your drinking water they say to 7.5 1/8 tea spoon in a bottle of water will raise it to 8.1 ish
here is the real rabbit hole Ivermectin, or something similar cancers are a virus you can get it over the counter in certain states now got a bad rap because they hated the guy that said it idk but it is something to occupy your mind as you search good luck and Gods speed
