Finished the build!
I changed my ladies over to this and they seem super happy even a couple inches away but i’m trying to keep it at 5-6"… It’s awesome, i love the spread of light as well… I’ll probably change the spectrums around I just did it like this on a whim. happy growing guys and gals!

Perfectly executed brother. How many watts you end up going for on the driver?

Cheers cola matey, still trying to get more pics up, they need resizing.
they’re just on a 240 maxed out so 270 tops innit i think on that… with hindsight I would have run just 6 on this rig maxed out on te 240 and i’ll probably doctor it further down the line but finances are all over the place so I just though fuck it jam the thing in there and see my new toy in action and it really is the dogs bollocks… plants instantly stopped stretching and started filling out which was a god send… kinda building a second one with just 4 strips maxed on a 185…

Nice build there pal, neat job of the wiring too
My significant other just pulled around 7oz (dry) from 2 autos (one of them was taken early) Her rig has 1 more strip, same driver as you (for now) and her tent is 1.2 x 0.6 x 1.8M. I’ll be boosting her rig to about 350w when the weather cools a bit so we’ll see how she gets on with that
My Satori bushes have gone nuts under my twin rig too so i’m well impressed with these solstrips now.

Thanks Albannach bro. Thanks to you good pioneers I had a great example to go off and quite a few ideas to rob :
That’s exactly the space I’m working with lol… great yield for Autos that, they must have been happy!
I ran the wires through a Aluminium U and then taps some holes through an L bar to cover the wiring. got basically everything pre cut by an online metal company and didn’t cost that much.
Next time I’m probably going to run the lights the other way around to get a more perpendicular spread rather than linear, I think that makes sense… on the 350 I would have thought you’ll need to raise it slightly but the penetration will be much better and ya can always dim it can’t ya… I’m always growing In different awkward spaces so I’ll probably be making more smaller lights from now.
Just wish I had a PAR meter… need to save up and get one now I’ve gone down the path of diy leds… The results are really great (he says only a week in lol, or they say tbh), the spread and spectrum seem superb, but building it was also surprisingly fun… Did a lot of drilling in the front room though so you can imagine the looks of icy death that were fired at me by the ladies of the house LMAO

lol i hear you, yeh i had a near mutiny when i built a big cob rig a bit back. I almost got a firm to cut the aluminium but it cost big when they added their additional postal fines for the apparent crime of living outside Glasgow. It’s amazing what you can do with a hacksaw and a wheelie bin for a workhorse. I did file the ends though cos i’m not a full blooded redneck

It was just too hot to be arsed going outside and ally shards are great to vacuum up…
Eye mate I was using a dremel to do some of it but Im great at firing shards in my eyes… lazy shit really ive got a vice setup and goggles in a work room about 200 yards away that could have been used which didn’t help my argument… too far too lazy too stoned and too hot lol

Alloy shards are like spider mites, when you finally think you’ve seen the last of them, more appear, sometimes 6 months later
Heatsink paste trodden into the carpets always gets a negative reaction too btw

Ohhh no I was careful with the heatsink paste, really negative is a good understatement lol… I would have got knocked out for that. I’m a bit on thin ice with my cowboy DIY ways, get the job done though
Haha I went over this carpet so many times… I’m the vacuum jocky in this house so it’s just more work for me anyway…

Isopropyl Alcohol is the only thing i found that can remove arctic silver paste from carpet. That white paste can however be removed by several dettol wipes

Looks great. Oh how I am jealous of you more technically inclined ogers. I’d love to build myself a big solstrip rack but due to my lack of technical skills its sheets for me for now. I just hung up my 2 sheets with 3 x3 strips each split with a 480w driver. Excited to give them the first test run in a 4x4 tent.
