Hi, this is my first time low-stress training. 12 Assed Raven by Mephisto
Just wondering where I go from here. She’s got a lot of leaf to her and keeping a relatively flat canopy. It’s getting a little difficult to get enough light to all the future budsites because of other leaves. Should I continue to spiral her top around the edge of the pot in a circle? Or move around some stems/ties? Leaf tucking has helped a lot too.
Even though its an auto i would be thinking about removing a couple of the big fan leaves. Branching will take off better if light can reach the lowers but those big leaves dont let lite down in there. Also ive seen people “ponytail” up some top leaves with a rubber band or something to accomplish the same thing as pruning. Leaf tucking only goes so far once the plant is tall.
If your just starting to shape the plant, there is nothing wrong with Tucking them.
Autos I tend to leave the Fans alone in the early days. All those solar panels and so little time…
As the branches you have trained extend, you will be able to see how it gets laid out naturally.
Nope just starting to get my feet under me with autos also.
Ive always been told to keep defoliation to a minimum with autos but when they are stocky and leafy like that 1 or 2 big fan leaves might be slowing the lower branches from developing. Idk if others would agree but that what id be thinking from thw pic
Can’t be tweeking it throughout, your right; stress
Apply your shape over a couple (few) weeks, let it get established.
Then Remove any bad actors is a safe approach @BudLarfy
True i usually wait to defol. Until its absolutely necessary with autos. At 30 some odd days she looks like a stout bush. A little preflower stretch would help.
Edit: oops just 30 days old now
Seen your plants, wouldnt want to contradict your teachings. But yea around here they gotta either sink or swim.
My house plants have all boiled down to the ones that can survive on hope.
Pretty sure they’ve adapted to live on mostly ambiant humidity and airborn dander.
Lots of experience smoking, I’m a single digit grower still. I love this sport!
OG is such a solid place.
We have a mail strike here in the People’s Republic of Ontario. Send me a DM with an address. I’ll put some fire in a hole for you @BudLarfy@halo56 when this strike clears
grew my first plants at the turn of the century. i would say im “proficient” at this point.
maybe a solid blue belt in jiujitsu terms.
overgrow is like a black belt seminar
very kind of you. .gotta love the generosity of OG. the beans sure fly around here! visited Ottowa once. people seeemed really laid back and i couldnt feel that heavy feeling of prohibition that was all around the states then. and the molson…
only just finished my 3rd auto run. right now ive been averaging 6 jars per auto. i think i can improve on that with some more auto specific experiance. whats not to like about seeed to bud in 3 months?
Thank you!! @BudLarfy those are some nice numbers! And exactly… prices of dispensaries upstate here are pretty rough unless you have a local friend who grows that you can buy from. Easier to diy instead of spending half your paycheck on an ounce lol
