No, I think that it’s a business model. If you get seeds to everyone who wants them, then nobody wants your seeds anymore. It’s not CAP’s fault for reading the market the way it is. People want to feel like they’re getting something exclusive, and that’s what they pay for.
Some people derive value by having something that people want. Other people define value by having something that meets their needs. If you don’t understand your target customers, you really don’t know what you’re selling. And like I said, the inherent value of seeds is very minimal. So fundamentally when you define what your product is, you can decide on the price.
I saw a video where people were talking about the test batch they grew. I don’t remember much at all, but I believe these are regular and not fem seeds. So if one was to have v2 and the original cut, they could do a inbreeding project to get a desired plant with some stability maybe…
Man I have the pollen chuckin fever since I’m about to do my first pollination.
I can’t remember when cap put out fem seeds lol n when he dropped macv2 in end of summer i think it was $350 a pack n i heard he had lines across couple blocks…he sold out in 1 hour…$380 for 3 regs pack is a steal and btw check v2 on neptune and see how much they going for? I know a guy who got lucky and bought 2 packs early but he doesnt give out clones or seeds…hes licensed n sells to dispensarys but he was telling me he found 2 fem keepers n 2 males from 1st pack…
I certainly don’t propose to understand the hype history behind MAC, but when other breeders take notice, so do a lot of others in the community. For example, here’s Mr. Soul, of Brothers Grimm, talking about his fondness of capulator’s MAC:
So are we going to pitch in and do a seed run of capulator’s MAC or what?
I’ll say this, I knew nothing of MAC hysteria, before I joined BB. Hell I went there after Santero related he heard Escobar may be posting again over there.
BB has a policy you got to complete a grow log, to get full membership to all of the forum’s content.
Once I got in, I found and followed Cap’s building of his grow areas, and some of the installation processes. All top notch items. Looked like a ton of investment to me.
I followed grow logs of his strains, by a few different testers, so yeah, I got an idea of what I purchased, before I got the invite to pre buy some. So many mind readers here.
All hyped strains shrivel in time.
Anyone else remember, Bubba Kush, that was being pushed for $10,000.00 a cutting…right here on Over Grow maybe 18-19 years now?
As a personal grower, who has no outlets to recoup my expenses, except through barter, and every bean seller asking $250.00 to whatever they can get, this way gave me the best price I could find and have some trust of the seller.
I’m thrilled to run some Cap’s products this coming year, as well as other breeders like my cheapest seed purchase from Mark!! I’m as happy to be running them as well as Cap’s. Makes the new year look more fun to me anyway.
just remember I am doing a MAC1 BX run if all turns out well
but it’s not a preservation run
I also have some MAC beanz which I assume are f2 to continue working with
and as the female I just chopped has few seeds I will be able to try some MAC1 almost sinsemilla
I buy it directly from Caps dispensary. His version is strong and super good. It’s really easy to build a tolerance on it, so after a few smokes it really doesn’t hold the same effect. The first time I smoked it it felt like the first time smoking. That feeling only comes back after short T breaks, but I love MAC. Tried other dispensary versions that feels hella middy.
I believe its too commercial now. When our stores first open the smoke was great. Once everything got going farming wise and the demand increased the quality went down as they are trying to pump it out as fast as possible. Ill put anything I grow up against our store product.
Is there any option in any of that for someone (anyone including is this something you’re looking into as well) to produce enough to put some into a seedrun for the future?
I’m definitely interested in seeing what OG can do with MAC.
I can’t determine the reason for this either. In CO, when there was only med dispensaries, I thought the product was better too. Now, I can’t distinguish one strain from another. I’m not sure if that’s just the homogenizing effect of polyhybrids, or if there’s something else at play. Most of the strains I don’t even recognize anymore, but even some of the ones I do aren’t what I remember.
But I know for a fact that they’re not growing all the same strain and just applying different labels, which is what I would have guessed if I didn’t know people. However, I’ve also heard that some places don’t respect strain names if one thing is selling and another is not…
I do know that they all do a very poor job curing here. And they package it so it gets bone dry. A lot of the problems might start there.
Hi, im Nefrella, I have an addiction to seeds. We have a meeting in the strainaholics thread
Its all about what you want, and the disposable income you have. Trust me, there will ALWAYS be a bigger, better mousetrap. Been there, done that. But now, that I have (imo) a decent setup, the only thing left to buy are the genetics.
I anticipate that im just at the tip of the iceberg here. I was talking to my hubby last night, I was like, man, I really enjoy this hobby! His reply: You mean obsession? LOL, and, he’s not wrong. I’m also a recovering alcoholic, so for me, this is therapy, and a means to channel my insanity.
You do you bro, power on, and enjoy the fruits of your labors!
That’s why. It is incredible looking. Taste & smell are kinda bland, though, to be fair. That’s cookies for ya. Not my cup of tea but I can see why people get their panties twisted over it. I didn’t grow this, another friend in Michigan gave this to me.
Mr. Soul & Morrissey are actually the same person. You’ve never seen them together in a room.
I really do like the C99/Apollo family, though. Sometimes ya gotta separate the work from the person. Everything you enjoy is tainted by some assholery.
