Lol ,its been a very long time since I have had to use my 2nd Dan Macrame training old mate … I expected it to eventually be discovered - the location is closer than all the others . It was bound to happen , as really no matter where I go I see walking tracks worn into the ground and people in the most unusual places ,just a little sad it was so close to being finished …
Son of a bitch. Damn thieves. Cant even wait to steal a mature plant. Jerks. I’ve always been an outdoor grower myself. Set em and forget em. But I finally have a spot for tropicals, and I’m stoked… thank you stimulus check ! the last one paid for the room, the next one paid for the seed collection hahaha ! with all the heartache our government and its stupid laws have caused me, it feels so good to put that money where it went. The Sativa world is so new to me. So many types I know nothing of except what I have read. Anxious to see what I have, so if anyone is interested in growing a crazy unheard of landrace with an awful yield ( likely )and unique terpenes, let me know😊! nearly the whole collection is available for Repro purposes . So after seeing those Madagascar plants sexing so young, it is certainly due to the short-season there at the moment. That would explain the Colombian flowering so rapidly too. great growth on those Madagascar plants! Happy to see light green is there natural color. I’m starting to get a feel for the climate where you are now, and these plants would be great breeders for a wet, cold climate. I wonder why nobody has gone strain collecting in Madagascar recently? Or are the landraces from this country a guarded Secret amongst breeders? Is it known to be very dangerous there or something?
can’t wait to see what the little ladies do! They should flower just as fast as that Colombian I would think. Still six more weeks till the solstice. I sure hope the rip-offs walk elsewhere. …Stem rub sounds really interesting on that male. Nearly all my growing has been of the same 2 heirlooms over the last 30 years. There’s so many smells I haven’t gotten to experience before. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled Pine on a stem rub… but that particular terpene in flowers is known to help THC get absorbed into the body. Good terpene to have!
Glad the government is helping you out over there , I think a lot of people around the world are struggling under the current pandemic
Not sure why nobody has been here to collect seed mate …Malagasy are generally easy going . It does take time to get in the know , I tried for months before somebody opened up on the local scene - mostly because they are distrustful of foreigners in general I feel , I will stem rub the male again when I check him again ,as I said the more I thought on it the less spicy it began to smell ,but the sweetness was extra loud I just cant put my finger on the underlying scent in reality . Weather here has taken a sharp dive the last 2 days ,I nearly had to put on my thick work coat when heading in this morning - the rain and mist have eased off but I am sure it will be back with a vengeance shortly . Most of June and July are cold / overcast and misty for large parts of everyday during these couple of months… I don’t think I will be going anywhere for a quite some time so should be able to keep updating the thread over the worst months , I am excited to see how they hold up and what sort of growth we get … next drive by I will take some Local Guano I have and a simple nitrogen fert this will be watered a little into each area to see what happens
The final update.
Things here have started getting pretty full on , so we are all being evacuated next week .
So lets kick it off with Happy first up , the growth on this boy since the last visit 9 days ago is fantastic
I really like the purple tints to a couple of the next plants - they are getting hungry for nitrogen as they work roots into the native soil below
I was pretty sure the largest of these last 3 was male and it is with a bonus purple tint . When I get back here towards the end of year I think this spot will be great for an auto or 3
I will be back !!
Everything is looking really really nice! Those plants are doing great! They’ve really taken off. Pretty tight flowers on the male. I was looking through the whole thread again earlier today, and I saw again the pictures of the young Madagascar seedlings. I have a few durban’s going at the moment. They look quite similar. I know there’s still Young, but check this out.
Happy you’re leaving, but sad to see you go. You must be stoked. Getting to go home I hope?! Pardon my ignorance, but what does “things are getting full on” mean? Shits goin down? I’ve heard the expression before I, but never asked.
Gday @Upstate
Getting full on =
firstly - So the president of the country is blaming expats for the virus now and public attitude towards us is being swayed by these lies , our people are being targeted for abuse ( only verbal for the moment ,but it could get physical very quickly ), I think personally its a blame game to cover up the lack of testing and the fact that even under lock down the local people have continued to move freely around - simply pay the gendarme a bride and away you go . the cases here are climbing very very quickly , last I saw we had over 500 cases reported - up from 180 maybe a week ago
Secondly one of our people has sadly lost the battle with Rona last week and I think the company has had a wake up call on our safety - so we are being evacuated before the things really head to "shit Town "
to say I am stoked to be heading home mate just doesn’t cover it
I’m not leaving just relocating mate .I will still be here stalking and commenting , I will be excited to visit these plants when I get back , they may reveg which would be awesome
those seedlings do look very similar I agree , would be super cool if these were an old pheno of Durban in fact , may explain the smell of the stem rub ?
btw they look very healthy , how old are they ?
if the winter is mild enough back home I may throw a couple of beans down just for shits n giggles
Working now so I can’t respond to the above post just yet, but suffice it to say I hope to get out of there soon. I was showing some friends at work the pictures of your plants from over there and comparing them with the last Durban photo I gave. Look specifically at post 19, and then at my second Durban photo. The first leaves that come out even have an identical Leaf wrinkle…interesting.
HOME!!! Good for you! The family must be stoked! Sounds like a bad situation could happen quickly there. Good move to leave. Sorry to hear of yr co worker losing the battle with corona. Sad. Away from family when it happened too i would guess. Nothing worse. So those Durbin’s are probably, although it’s hard to admit this, 5 weeks old. Nothing really enjoyed the 50-50 foxfarm promix blend. But, the Durban had some serious malformations from birth. Two grew normally, while the other five were all weird looking. One of them only had its first two leaves after the cotyledons since I planted them. If I had more than 7 plants I would have killed it, but I decided to keep it going to see what happened. It just sprouted two tops out finally a week ago. I wouldn’t breed with it but I hope to smoke it. Since I put the Durbin’s in the new soil mix they have taken off a bit, but they are still slower than anything else. I had always imagined that genetics would have gone from South Africa to Madagascar, but I’ve been rethinking that synopsis. With Madagascar’s two thousand year history of weed, perhaps the genetics flowed the other way? Or maybe they are just a different branch of the same genetics south africa has had for the same length of time. Be safe there in yr final days. Almost home.
Wooo hooo
Home at last ,well in my home state at least .I have to complete the 14 days isolation before I can finally kiss my wife
I think you could be on to something with the Durban theory mate , they could be related indeed ,wouldn’t that be cool .I did noticed the leaf wrinkle on your pictures and it is very similar if not exactly the same as what a couple of the seeds I planted displayed - I have seen this on a couple of strains on here and other places and it is very interesting to me for sure
I have some Durban seeds somewhere and will run a side by side this coming outdoor season with the Madagascan .
Happy to let you all know I did manage to sneak rather a large number of these seeds in with me, I did freak out a little at the airport and shed quite a few as the wrapped seeds made it look like I had a massive boner … it’s not massive but it works just fine lol
so once I am free from lock down I will be getting in touch with the guys who wanted some and get these out to you , happy days !!
the best hiding place! You got to stay soft or it would be way too big eh Excellent to hear you are nearly home mate. What’s quarantine like? You in a tent or a dorm or something?
thanks @Bob13
quarantine is actually pretty good mate The food sucks , but Uber eats are delivering so there’s a win lol , I’m fortunate to have scored a 5 star luxury hotel in the CBD, the other dude I flew in with in is super unhappy as he got a crappy Novotel , my room is 4 times the size of his Lol
Here’s a pic of what I managed to get through
Now THATS using your head! Lol! So happy for you that you are finally home! I hope you have at least seen your family from a distance?
Great to hear that you managed to get a bunch of those beans back home! I would absolutely love to have some of those little gems! I’ll reproduce them, but also cross them with my Durban, and I’ll be sure to send you some. Man, this is exciting! I’ve been curious about Malagasy genetics for a long time now. A nearly untapped genepool. Fun fun!
Thanks mate …
Flick me a pm yeah
Only face time with the fam for the moment , I live about 7 hrs from here in fact
Welcome back! Sounds like things were getting a little wild over there. Man, what a crazy time to be traveling.
Gday mate and thanks very much
Yeah was getting a little on the hairy that side for sure , travelling back was really weird , virtually empty airports masks everywhere
hazard suited hostesses ,herded off planes by police real end of days type stuff …very happy to be home indeed ,only 2 wks of this to go and I can finally go home
What is the story behind that Zamal?
You mean you built yourself a greenhouse of some sorts?
