Is there anyone who has grown this strain and had similar issues? I suspect to long of veg. 2 months. Maybe root bound? Looks to be mag deficiency? My 1st true sativa, so I’m in a fuss. Long time to go yet as this is week 5.
How big are your pots? I did 5 footers in 2Gs
Looks kinda like K deficiency to me…
What’s your setup like in terms of medium and fertilization?
Gives appearance of classic Low-K, imo. SS/BW…mister
Hello and thank you.
I’m using HF soil 5 gal. fabric pots.
A.N’s OG organics as recommended.
I veged for 2 months
nutrient or light intensity issues - just harvested Malawi x Panama but MY pheno was more malawi very little Panama - have to check there must be 4 pheno’s
I wouldn’t bother too much, I had the same problem with a Goroka Highland and this is what Upstate told me:
“Usually those extra leaves will begin to yellow and fall off before ripening. Its the plants’ nitrogen source for late flowering when it stops gathering N from the soil. My favorite Thai was leafy like that but filled out for me in the end and most of the leaves fell off. Every day there were a dozen yellow leaves.”
And he knows about sativas for sure …
Thanks George, I’m into 3rd year. I’ve did my research best I could. Thank you for everyone’s input. I located a pic of the same cross from another reputable seed bank. BTW. Ace seeds here. But the plant looked exactly the same. Good results reported. I’m in question about…if the majority say deficiency of K. But, the buds are doing great for 5 months. As I usually think
…more is better. I’m opting to reduce to check for toxic. I feed generously. I was under the impression that organics don’t build up salts. Oops! Smack! Palm in forehead.
Thanks George and all for replies. Please continue!
What strains of Thai have you grown? You must be very patient?
Thanks, I have grown Wid Thai:
Purple Malawi:
Durban:
Oaxacan:
Indeed, the Goroka Highlands was 24 weeks and finished dying unattended outside in the patio. The Oaxacan harvested with 19 weeks and so on. You should feed them half strength, sativas doesn’tlike full steam ahead …
There’s a section where you can post any trouble you may have:
It is also a good read if you want to learn, you will find more help there for sure, you can also tag me whenever you like …
Georgeous pictures, George
Goodluck Elsa! Looks like you’re doing a fantastic job so far. Enjoy the harvest I do agree that it is fairly normal on sativas like that to sort of shuck some. You can feed a little harder in weeks 3-6 next round if you want just to see how they take it, but really they look great to me. Nice.
Thanks man, those were my last experiments with sativa, I’m an indica man as I vape the sacred weed to . You’re right about Elsa, good looking plants, not easy to deal with the sativa family …
Welcome @Elsa !
Not much help here as I am in ProMix HP soilless and feeding Mega Crop one part.
But, my Malawi x Panama is taking 5g/gallon and growing like a weed
I topped above the fourth node and trained sideways until flipping to 12/12 @ day 49/7 weeks.
She is now 49" tall @ day 28 of flower and @5g/gallon and still green as can be ! And still stretching 1 1/2" per day. Down from 2" per day the previous week !
Their feed chart says I should be @6g/gallon…
I grew a Golden Tiger that barely tolerated 5g/gallon. A Wild Thailand was burnt to heck at that feed level. My Malawi seemed to be okay @6g/gallon but not really happy so I cut back to 5g/gallon to finish. All three took roughly 100 days of 12/12 to finish !
I don’t think 5 gallons of medium is the issue, should be plenty along with your added nutrients. And the length of veg will only effect the finished bulk/height of the plant. Fabric pots are also okay, they air prune the roots so I doubt it is root bound.
Yours looks like a deficiency issue with only a few top fan leaves being effected.
Hopefully a soil guy can offer a solution to you…
I don’t know how well your soil drains but I have been known to do a 3x flush to reset the medium when I’ve overfed…
This is mine @day 17 of flower.
Cheers
Thank you. From my research I’m guessing that Im overfeeding. My blue gelato 41 is starting to exibit similar issues but very dailed down. I’ve seen similar symptoms in some pics I dug up just to look and see. I’m feeding for indica leaning hybrids. I’m hearing back off nutrients with sativas. Therefore I will abladge to recommendations. Any thoughts are welcome. I’m only maybe 10 grows in to this.
If this is from Ace, IME my Mal x Pan, and all Panama hybrids are big feeders that I can sometimes struggle to keep up with in my organic soil mix and have found that they need some extra feeding of big bloom, etc. most of the way through flower, and usually push out a late reflowering and stack up if they have enough food.
You’re growing buds not leaves anyway. Buds look nice.
Just some natural die back maybe? Don’t look too bad in some of the shots. Small pots can struggle to keep the nute levels up I find, and some times the heavier feeders will start yellowing off down below if you don’t keep up with additives.
