Has anyone ever reversed a male plant with sts and made it turn female? Is it possible. Really want to preserve a male I found to make all male s1 seeds for myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

STS won’t work to reverse a male as it’s an ethylene blocker. You would need to use ethephon (Florel)

I would like to know the ratio and how to make that florel mix as well guess I gotta do some research again!

For spraying the appropiate saftey gear should be worn, and of course you should use a open Space with good airflow.

Ok so all the seeds would be male. I’ve been wondering about something like that. I had 6 seeds from CSI. Freebies they were Panama red fallen soldiers. Now I figured that would mean Panama red female with unknown male? Anyway they all turned out to be male. Guess just my luck? It’s just what got me thinking if a male could be reversed. Very interesting best of luck to you with your project.

The old school way to do this was with apple peel and/or tomato, as they
decompose they release ethylene so we used to make a container for our male from a large water (5 to 10l plus) bottle and then in another container put the apple peel/tomatoes and a tube from that bottle to the plant chamber to transfer the gas. Florel certainly sounds more straightforward but I’ve done it that way before.

Same thing buddy, florel works on same pathway. Epethon is metabolised to ethylene by the plant (internally) vs using natural ethylene (externally). Same effect. Some folks used to put apple peel into the middle of a fan leaf or two and tie it up like a parcel, to achieve similar effect. Not much ethylene is needed, really, timing is more important than rates tbh. Needs to be done 14 days before preflower or more. Knowing the plants in advance helps with timing. I would prefer natural route personally but that’s just me, it is more work

So would you spray 2 weeks before flower or 2 weeks into flower?
I havent used florel, but, with ethylene the best time so about two weeks ten days before preflowering normally happens. Seems like florel does a number on them so getting timing right should help get away with less. Depends on strain but four weeks or so at a guess.
