Yesterday’s news, but Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer’s server database has been breached, exposing some mildly sensitive information, like emails and IP addresses of smart grow equipment users. It’s long been suspected the Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer are the same company with different brandings. This is one more point of evidence. Change your wifi passwords etc if you are, or think you are, affected.

I made the mistake of taking a sponsorship with Mars Hydro when I started indoor 3 years ago. Worst experience ever.
They asked if I wanted a light, and being poor I said sure. A week of chatting back and forth and they decided that since I’m new, they could only offer an inline fan for now, and a light later. I said whatever, sure. Fan gets here, a day later it explodes, taking out my current grow light and even my tent. They went silent. Fun company.

Just got an automatic dog feeder that connects to wifi/app and also records voice and it plays the owners voice when it drops the food.
I was one of the first back almost 10 years now to get onboard with Mars Hydro lights. They aren’t bad, until you have a problem, then it’s… HEY can we send you parts so you can fix it yourself. Not that the lights are complicated, but that’s NO warranty I’m used to. Once I went with HLG, and retired the Mars “400’s” there was NO turning back.

My mars 300 went bad in under a year. I now use spider farmer and I find the quality much better. Maybe this is a case of Lexus vs Toyota. My bank wouldn’t let me buy directly from Spider Farmer website. The merchant was not trusted.

Man I love the ease and control the ACI app and controller provide. I only use on a Bluetooth connection because I can’t figure the WiFi. But it does make you think. Guess there’s trade off for everything

I still have one of those “300s” too, hilarious, I never bloomed with that light tho’
Had a Mars FC3000 for 3 years and pumps out consistently better buds than any of my other 5 lights from better brands. Luckily got it for free, as I will never buy a MH product again after they set me back a few months from the above disaster. Also luckily it has no network connectivity, not that I have wifi enabled on my router to begin with. But you never know with internal sniffers and whatnot from the big spy country.

The microphone in your refrigerator is there to wait until you joyfully ask it to give you ice. It is not constantly recording everything and sending it back to the mothership for multiple avenues of data extraction and sale.

i remember in the movies when the mobs and spys would take the batteries out of the phones even though they were turned off. made me wonder why companies started making batteries in celphones inaccessable
