His Grandson poured one out for his original form; and sends solid nods to his successors!
Hey @lambchopedd , I’ve been following this for a couple months now, but I just went back and read post 1, and saw you had a bunch of packs back then. Are any still available?
Feel free to DM, I just didn’t want to ask for seeds in a message
I’m sorry man @HeadyBearAdventures , but I’ve been out of them for a while. One day I may make more when the beans I kept for myself
No worries brother; I’m here for the people, so the beans are just bonuses!
Thanks for the reply, and for doing your part to Overgrow The Planet!
Oh man this strain looked so damn nice. I’m upset I took a break and missed the adventure with you all. Those leaves are so beautiful
May be a long shot but are any of these still available?
I asked a while ago, and I can confirm that they are long gone.
I’m determined to keep this MDS male alive until I can use it’s pollen for something similar; I have hopes for the Alcapulco Gold.
When the time comes, i’m gonna collect as much pollen as possible and will have it up for grabs here.
IF anyone has a female and wants to “risk” cuttings of this to make more seeds and are in we can talk! I’ll just send ALL the trimmings next time I have to make this gent smaller again
I feel you man @Pigeonman , I’m still holding on to the male I kept too. I lost the Sweeter pink grapefruit female I wanted to reveg, but I do have a few other girls in flower rn! One looks promising (i.e xmas tree shape, squat structure)… if any of these impress, I’’ll reveg them. I’ll take pics one day this week and post em here.
I had to put my MDS project on hold for a bit, but I’m hoping to pop the rest of my personal stash by the end of the year. I’ll probably mix all the pollen to make another (small) OP stock for the OG’ers! But my main goal is to work the line a bit towards some sort of uniformity. @HeadyBearAdventures @Therealironlotus
And in case I didnt mention this already, MDS surely impressed the local folks around my way. Only one person knew it was from me (she might be bias ) but everyone else smoked it via her and have no reason to blow smoke up my ass haha
Haha just for shits n giggles… I just posted this on IG a few days ago. I completely forgot I was in the middle of trimming when work got hectic this past holiday season
So… here’s some r&d I’m inadvertently doing with the MDS:
[Disclaimer: I’m not currently making seeds… I was… but passed on it to complete these other pollinations you may have seen me do/start]
Anyways… here’s the weirdest pheno, morphologically — smells like grapefruit like the last batch
These phenos (morphologically speaking) are more of what you should expect. All diff phenos: The smells here range from [no exaggeration] new shoes… fresh tennis balls, and lastly “sweet” citrus
Do you think my grow tent would jack up my aloe plant?Ive grown attached to her and she has made me many Cuts and soothed many burns and Iwould hate to croak her
@CapnCannabis , when in doubt try it out and see what happens! Worst case scenario you at least KNOW you tried something instead of just standing idle.
I’m currently bringing back to life my 20-25+ year old Peyote cactus that was neglected for a few years due to overload and mental health. So far so good with suggestions given by fellow OGer’s!
Hey did you ever do grafts from your peyote to a sand Pedro cactus? Some one told me at a blue heron festival that if you do that you can grow out the peyote buttons faster.Don’t know anything about sacred cactus but it was something interesting I though I’d share.Peyote takes so long to grow.Thailand is supposed to be the capitol of peyote they grow it as an ornamental and use it’s long grow time as a testimate to the growers patience and ability.I don’t think they partake in sacrament.
so cool you guys brought this up i was just ironically researching how to graft my self and then saw this! do you guys have any experience with san pedro? I have a 2 foot tall san pedro that I got from a festival and i’m a total nube with cacti and its growing really really narrow to almost a point.
So is mine but I know it doesn’t get enough light. I’m thinking that’s what it is in my case
tldr — It might be about time to get this thread rolling again. This is gonna be a long post.
So with the supermoon coming… thinking about popping the rest of the MDS beans to finally get a filial version going (& possibly another, bigger OP generation). But dont hold your breath yet… I’m pretty maxed out for space right now.
Earlier this week I harvested one of the sinsemilla plants — this one in particular being the most “modern” looking buds that I’ve seen thus far. Plus, it was a 12weeker
Terps were muted… couldnt really pinpoint what it smelled like; it’s currently in reveg
(I’ll try to take pics of finished flowers)
The rest will probably get the chop on the 16th (94 days exact)… one was arguably already ready, another looked close under the loupe although the bottoms hadn’t densed up to my liking. The other two had that “jungle style” buds
Plan: I know I have 30ish seeds left from specific moms I liked in the original stock.
I dubbed those moms as:
• Catpissy
• Fruity
• Mentholated
• Carbonated Soda
• My “Favorite”/sandalwood pheno
As of right now, all I have left is the Carbonated Soda & the mentholated seeds, not including however many from this last group (Fruity) that I decided to reveg. I should have 3-5 counts from the previously popped groups…. But I misplaced them and need to find em. If I do, they’ll get thrown in the mix too.
The OP gen will mostly come first because I’ll take snips of the females (for seedless R&D), and let the from-seed-mothers getting pollinated by the males indiscriminately.
After that, I tend to reveg the males, reevaluate them based on a few criteria, then the “winners” after all that will probably get a 1:1 to see what traits get passed on. This is the plan anyways.
Observations: The Catpissy & Sandalwood phenos were surprisingly uniform in terms of smell — all grapefruit terps, with only subtle differences and one “sweet pink grapefruit” outlier.
I tried to reveg the Sweet Pink grapefruit one, but to no avail (RIP).
The effects were largely uniform, although the tastes varied between phenos; ex. The Sweet pink grapefruit was harsh and lacked taste, while random buds in the mixed jar of everything else were much smoother and actually tasted sweet.
As far as the Fruity group is going, they are much frostier than the first group! But terps, structure, and leaf:flower ratios are all over the place! I’m getting everything from muted, general “sweetness”, new shoes, etc (I forgot the other).
Conclusion: I’m learning to not judge a book by its cover. I have no expectations for what the next group(s) will smell or look like.
And as far as what I’m hunting for… I’m not sure, other than selecting away from the “jungle” looking plants (unless they blow me away with the smoke test).
I hope to have somewhat uniform plants. Visually, I would like them to compete with most modern strains on the market. The MOST IMPORTANT trait I want to maintain is the clear, soaring high I’ve gotten from them so far!
MDS
Thanks @lambchopedd
