Mid-80s mexican accessions by the 2 Als

When I moved to Oregon I was introduced to the most serious BeanHoarders I’ve ever met…
Dr Al Kapuler and his partner Al Venet. They were and still are very admired among organic farmers in the PNW.

These 2 Als banked thousands of heirloom varieties and held more knowledge than my brain could ever absorb.
During their accession of Mexican corn varieties in the mid-80s some Cannabis seed was also banked.

Now skip forward to the original OG forum and I was in full production mode with ogk’s and sour d.
So when I told uncle Al about some forum members craving old commercial skunk and catpiss he said, “No shit?!? well I’ve got something for them !”
He gave me 3 pint-jars and they were labeled according to their corresponding corn accessions. Year/approx location and whether or not it was a rotational crop grown after pintos. No other notes were made about the weed seeds as those weren’t the primary agenda.
They just said to gift them to those who would appreciate them.
And I tried…
Early 2000’s I was let down by a fellow OGer in Oregon who said he could facilitate a large outdoor hunt / pollination.
I told him that these were prone to herm during my indoor runs. Hairy phenos, skunk, hazey catpiss and some fruity diesel were what I found .
But after that guy started seeing balls he claimed “his wife got on his shit about switching from profitable production crop to free R&D”
So that bitch(him not her) culled everything male or intersex.
In my experience the intersex and males were the stinkiest of everything during vegetation.

After that letdown I blasted him privately amongst a few members and one OG showed me a copy of bitchboys private message to other OGers saying that he was going to ask me for more of these beans (to spread around other members without my knowledge).
At that time hermies were very taboo and I put those beans into deep freeze having been fully disappointed by forum members.
Now the 2 Als are passed and sometimes I feel like I let them down by sitting on their accessions without any foreseeable heir of my own to pass them down to.
Maybe if I post their pics someone will recognize these guys from the pnw, honor them, and respect these accessions enough to grow em all together outside the way they were created.
Preferably following a bean or corn crop… it was in their notes so it must’ve been important to the Mexican farmers.
Prove you can handle a large scale outdoor hunt / pollination without culling the stinkiest herms and these can be yours for the low-low price of free.
Heres a pic of DrAl in his vault and my favorite quote of uncle Al

three sisters squash corn beans planted together always in a mound. squash the smallest sister only can crawls on the ground . beans middle child wears a bright yellow dress and darts across the fields. corn the eldest sister stands tall and straight her body bending in the wind with her yellow hair blowing in the wind planted first then the beans to crawl on big sister. pole beans are better they say then the the fastest grower squash to keep the ground cool beans trap nitrogen, corn loves nitrogen but its more in the root zone the sisters feed each other then you plant in that inoculated bed following year makes alot of sense to me
