Hey y’all. My first post here on OG. I’ve been in other forums, but I guess I’m trying to find my home, still.
I’m all about sharing info and constantly learning, and I’m hoping to one day soon start my own business here in Midcoast Maine, helping people grow their own fully organic medicine in their own homes, safely and legally.
I’m currently running my first scrog, and am contemplating when to flip these girls to flower.
The girls are a Seedsman Jack Herer, and a Seedsman Cheese.
They are in 7G fabric bags that hold my own super soil mix, as you can see they have a cover crop and mulch added.
I also added a handful of worms to the soil, and I’ve got several ladybugs and Asian lady beetles on aphid duty.
No probs. I’ve been here and growing a while but just dipping a toe into organics now. So I’ll be keeping a close eye for bits of info that will come in handy. There’s a fair few organic gurus here already but the bigger the wealth of info in the community the better for all. Best of luck. Nice choice on the JH and cheese too.
@MidcoastOrganic NICE and I see your off to a fine start
? Who’s living soil recipe do you follow
By the way nice clean set up and the plants look healthy happy
That’s great! Admittedly, I am new to organic garden, but I’ve been doing intensive research and have had some success. Above that, I really believe in living Organics in terms of efficiency, superior product, frugality, and of course the minimal negative impact (and potential benefit) on the environment.
I’m glad to share what I’ve learned, and my process, and I hope it helps!
Hey Papalag! Great to have you here. This is my current recipe:
1 cuft COM Compost
2 cuft Canadian sphagnum peat moss
1 cuft perlite
1/2c azomite
1c gypsum
1c rock phosphate
1c alfalfa meal
1c kelp meal
1c neem meal
1c crab and lobster shell meal
1/2c blood meal
1/2c bone meal
1c dolomite lime
1.5c crushed oyster shells
I add additional perlite at planting time - the aeration is very important, especially when you want to keep the dirt moist at all times.
Great mix bro
I’ve used similar with great success the only thing I would do is add worm casing but not by much your mix has everything you need ,also would add beneficial mycorrhizae
Do you use compost teas in your grow ?
Thanks for the pointer there, Papalag - you are absolutely right on the worm castings! Unfortunately I haven’t found a good local source yet (well, I haven’t been trying as hard as I should) and have been resorting to using Wiggle Worm, which from what I hear isn’t great - but I do use it to mix in a little, and top dress, mostly to try to add microbial variety. But the good news is I just got a bunch of red wiggles and will soon have my own EWC!
Holy Cow ReikoX! A search for info on scrogs led me to your thread, but I’m only a few pages in so far - but it’s looking amazing! I think I will be flipping to flower soon. I do want to maximize my space, but I don’t want it to get too out of hand - it could be a disaster if we have an extended power outage (lost power for 2 days last week).
I’m definitely going to go back and read your thread - it’s great to have you here!
Thanks for asking, I had intended to detail my setup soon and forgot I never mentioned that stuff. Uploading…
The light is a custom-framed Quantum Board setup: 2x QB288V1 on a C2100B driver (250W max) running currently at about 190W. I ran 150W for most of veg, but am starting to turn it up.
It’s about 2.5" thick, so I can put it up very near the top of my tent, and with the exhaust pre-filter at the top right next to it, the little heat there is, isn’t much of an issue.
I enjoy the lighting side and electronics a lot. That’s where most my fun is. But I enjoy the smoking more than all of them. Organics is being in tune with your garden. And that’s usually the best smoke. How you finding the QB’s I’m well acquainted with the Samsung diodes they use but not the format
I’ve found the ventilation aspect an interesting challenge as well. I run the AC Infinity Cloudline T6, and have found it very effective, quiet, and reliable. The digital controller is a very nice addition to the package and improves climate control significantly.
Here’s a link to the fan in Amazon. This is an affiliate link, please let me know if this isn’t allowed!
No that’s perfectly alright with the affiliate links they’re more than welcome. I used a red scorpion 4" fan and filter to move the air through that and it runs around ambient temps. I see a lot of folks over the pond using the cloudline stuff seems decent
