My folks grew up in rural Montana during the Depression. My mom lived on a ranch when the locusts came thru. Not only did they eat the crop, they ate everything. They ate the paint off the house. Anything leather, which was on a lot of farm equipment back then.

“Normal” is chaotic and always has been. In a world that constantly changes, “normal” would have to be in flux constantly… therefore can never be established.
Also, there’s never been a time when the multitude of cultures on this planet have been similar enough to establish a “norm” worldwide. That is unless you go back to the stone age. lol
BUT I don’t think a butterfly flapping its wings in the Amazonian jungle could cause a storm in Europe. lol

In my mind normal doesn’t exist. What is normal for one is chaos to another and also the other way around. Normal would be a boring place to exist.
