Those look nice my friend. Good morning @MoBilly . Had a nasty headache when I got up to take a whiz about 2:30. Dozed off and on, but might be a wonky day.
I’ve got about 20 going Solo if I can get to them. I’m trying to accomplish a few things ahead of surgery in 11 days. Not sure how laid up I’ll be or for how long. Need to get a few things better organized in case I need some help from the Missus watering and feeding. My Rodent Snacks will be at about 54 days at surgery, giving me some time before chopping.
I hope your surgery and recovery go without a hitch brother @crownpoodle .
We’ve been doing the same thing in a way. We’re changing things around so that if our health gets worse we’ll be able to handle the grow, taking care of the goats, our garden outside…
Surgery looks to be in the cards for both Eva and myself in the near future so we have to do what we can to prepare.
Heehee…we’re already workin’ on it here. 38F this AM. Aspens are turning gold up on the mountain.
Fortunately…we have at least 2 more weeks of above frost/freeze temps rolling in so the veggie garden can play things out before it gets cold.
Damnz @crownpoodle …I’m wishing you all the best with the upcoming slice and dice. I hope it helps ya in a big way. At least it looks like you’ll have some smoke.
Good morning brother Mo, and all of OG!
Good morning Mo and Eva.
Those little plants look really nice. My favorite??? Ok since you ask. Chunky Junky #2.
They all look like a man might know a thing or two about a thing or two.
Thanks brother. I’m not happy with the light I had to put them under. As you can see, it’s a (sort of) blurple and the lower branches haven’t grown out like I want but now that the other larger plants are flipped they have the tent to themselves. I can use the better light on them. That blurple was the only extra light I had available that wasn’t a big heat producer. Now that they’re topped and under the Spider Farmer they should fill out nice.
And yeah CJ #2 is a standout. I have to say though the C99 is one I’ve wanted to grow for a few years. I’m stoked at how that one’s doing.
I hope those Dosifyah branch out. They have those beautiful, big, and fat leaves. lol , And if you look, it seems I have two phenos of them. Look at the node spacing on #3 compared to the other two.
BTW
Thanks again for those babies @Guitarzan .
And can you explain that lighting schedule you mentioned at the gathering once again. I wasn’t all together all together at the moment and can’t remember the numbers. lol
Hey. The numbers for flower are 10 1/2 on, 13 1/2 off. He also has one for veg. It’s 12 on, 5 1/2 off, 1 on, 5 1/2 off. I tried that one, but I had plants that started to flip, males mostly. I think if you ran it 5 off, 2 on, 5 off, you’d probably avoid that.
The flower schedule though, at least for sativas, is the bomb. It’ll cut 3-4 weeks off an 18-week flower time. For a regular hybrid like GDP, or something, it doesn’t seem to have much of an affect.
I hope all is well with you guys. ![]()

Thanks for the info bro.
We’re doing pretty decent, thanks. A few new bumps in the road but nothing we can’t handle.
I hope you and yours are well and happy as well.

I think it’s Mass Medical Strains that pimps some alternative light schedules. Not off and back on like this though. More subtle.
Seems there might be the potential to cause herms? I dunno.
I think I’m going to go with the 10 1/2 on 13 1/2 off schedule.
I believe you suggested flipping her earlier than I normally would as well. Or am I mistaken @Guitarzan ? I think you said after she’s well established after up potting…
Maybe if it’s grown at that schedule from the beginning… I think herms are mostly a genetic problem for some strains… I know I’ve had light leaks, problems with electricity, timers screwing up… and I haven’t had problems with herms popping up.
Hermies are more common due to environmental stress than genetic make-up. There are many factors in environmental stress that could be an issue.
I have also found that Sativa strains are more prone to hermies than Indica strains and landraces
having more issues than most sativa’s.
Altering light cycle enables you to finish an equatorial sativa indoors in less time. Some you’ve got to slowly transition from veg to bloom. I just bump a half hr a day until set. 12/12 doesn’t trigger an equatorial like others because that’s just a normal day at the equator. Also cuts down on constant reflowering .
Have been told that less than 10hrs light will affect resin production / potency. Aint never pushed it. I just slowly rotate from 16/8 to 11/13. 16wks indoors is my cutoff limit.Tryin’ to take something that does best in the ground under the sun i& drag it inside is akin to cagin’ a Bobcat. Neither one’s gonna be happy.
Yeah, you really only need to veg until the plant is old enough for sexual maturity, usually a month or two. I’ve had those cuts for several years now, so they’re ready to flip.
The on/off/on cycle is for veg only. You don’t want to do that in flower. ![]()
It’s real easy to herm a long flowering sativa. They’re very sensitive to nutes. The only way I’ve found to feed them safely is topdressing. I like Feather Meal, (12-0-0), for N because it breaks down slowly. I use a tbsp per gallon of soil once a month in veg.
I like Fish Bone Meal, (4-12-0) for flower until the last month, then I hit them with Seabird Guano, (0-12-0). Every month they get a tsp per gallon of Azomite, Langbeinite for K, (0-0-22), and a tbsp per gal of Kelp Meal. ![]()

Heretic that I be I grow soilless with salts. As stated, low low nutes . EC 0.8-1.2 as all mine are hybrids. Gave away all the long& pure stuff to folks who can do it outdoors in the ground
My biggest issue with long flowering sativa’s is that most people don’t want to spend the money or time trying to flower them indoor and try to do so outdoor in whatever longitude/latitude they are in thinking it won’t matter. It matters greatly with long flowering plants and causes stress. Acclimation of these type of sativa’s is something that takes generations and without correct acclimation effects the offspring in a negative way.
Just my 2 cents……….
Hey @MoBilly
I have a Dosiyah girl going right now. I only topped her once. I have eight nice sized branches.
Heres a typical branch.
Look at the size of those nugs.
During your vegging/training period, consider putting stakes in around your plant. one for each cola you expect. I didnt. Wish i had. They only lack abot 2-3 weeks. So i will leave them alone. Tnhe plant is very thick stemmed, so i thought i could just let her go. Bad choice. Those tops and nugs are heavier than most i have grown. I failed on the clone, too. Wish i had that to do over.
But yes, in my opinion, you will need lots of support.
