MoBillys Forevermore Green Room Thread (Part 5)

I did some sculpting when in art school and was going to give wood carving a try but never did. I would much rather paint!

@MoBilly, did it go under or was it washed away?

I love painting. If the paints weren’t so expensive now I’d still be doing that. But I’ve done a lot of relief carvings on gun stocks. I think I showed some pics on the forum a while back of a couple.
I found them!
I did this painting for Eva. For some reason she wanted to leave that tree looking dead instead of finishing the greenery on it. Go figure.

I’ve yet to finish this one. Arthritic hands made me quit.

My dad use to carve gun stocks also. Also did inlays in them. I was never into hunting with firearms much so never got into it. I was into archery.

Art supplies can get spendy. My mother-in-law used to hit garage sales for paints, mostly. Canvases and brushes too. Craigslist as well.

I’ve been wanting to get back into it. I might have to look into that when I have a few duckets to spare.

When my brother asked me to do the carvings on the double barrel he’d just got it in a trade and it didn’t have a trigger guard so I made one out of a stave from an old back brace.
I don’t think it looks too awful bad.

It’s safer anyway. lol

Good morning @MoBilly . Nice work. My dad did checkering as a side hustle until they moved from Spokane, Washington to San Diego. His guns were stolen from my stupid brothers place. He had a Savage 250, Model 99. Does that sound right, gun guys? I just remember it was beautiful. I love wood.
