Morning gang!
I was doing some math’s last night. Think I can nab my ventilation controller module here any day. Nabbing a vivosun.

Yup Savage 99 lever actions were very well made. Had a rotary magazine . The 250-3000 Savage cartridge was a hot number in its day with 3000fps muzzle velocity. No kick & shoots like a laser in a good rifle. OK deer round as it’s a pussycat & allows the recoil sensitive to shoot it accurately. Ackley Improved version comes extremely close to 25-06 performance with longer barrel life.

It didn’t get used much once we moved to Southern California. It wasn’t always the right choice when he’d go Elk hunting in Montana with my Uncle Hayden. I realized he wished it was when I’d watch him take it out of the scabbard. Handle it silently. Pulling it up quickly, then slowly to his cheek. But just once or twice. I think he was remembering. Then quietly put it away, knowing Hayden had him covered.

Would not be a good choice for elk even with pinpoint bullet placement. Like many of the classics too labor-intensive to be marketable today. Just the machine work alone & the fit/finish work. Probably have to sell for 2-3K a pop to justify a run. Always wanted one in 358Win for elk/moose in the timber.

How is it going today?

My deer rifle if I’m shooting any distance is my 7 mm Mauser. And I will use either my 30-30 Winchester or the Henry .45 when I’m in the thickets.

The 7x 57 Mauser is a known game-getter. Like its sister the 6.5 x 55 its heavy for caliber bullets penetrate like no tomorrow. Nice sedate cartridges w/o much recoil & enough power to kill cleanly. Heck the 7 has been used by professional elephant ivory hunters & the 6.5 has killed polar bears. Both the 175gr 7mm & 140gr 6.5 bulllets give same penetration as a 200gr 30cal. Got a Henry in 41mag myself that & ol’ Ruger BH 41 for hogs. Local deer too small aint worth shootin’. Gotta go AL/GA for decent WT.

Our new lights came in today. Eva caught them at a good price with a coupon so she bought two of them. They have a 2’x2’ area of coverage. We got one for the cuttings and one to help out in the closet.

Thank you my friend. I really need to finish the deer on that rifle stock.
I think it could really turn out nice.

These were gifts from my mother-in-law. Can’t remember if I shared these before. She worked in an antique store.
One’s the more traditional scrimshaw style. The other has more detail/depth to it.

That’ll work out very nicely for you. I can’t remember if that one turns down or not. I do wish I had one smaller like that.
