Modern Sativa Breeders

Who’s breeding the best ‘modern’ sativas?

I’m thinking old school genetics and landrace strains, but updated for the modern age.

I want that psychedelic, euphoric, retro high but maybe with some more bag appeal or bigger yields.

Who fits this description? Any help would be much appreciated.

Peace!

I’d eliminate your desire for traditional bag appeal. I find hazey sativa fluffy foxtaily buds to be desirable in the bag appeal departments but if you’re looking for rock hard nugs I think that’s unlikely unless you settle on hybrids.

Yeah I definitely am not looking for dense, hybrid nugs! Just something that doesn’t look too schwaggy.

Personally, I’m all about the effects, but for the average joe maybe having at least something unique or interesting to the nug structure would go a long way.

I grew one where the buds all looked like monkey hands with big long fingers. Zero traditional bag appeal.

It was a Panama/malawi and I cropped about a pound and a half in a 2x4. It was psychedelic electric. The hash I made from it was extremely powerful.

Lots of great options. Even if you don’t choose to buy from them check out the ACE site for some ideas.

Best of luck.

I had one plant give me multiple headed nugs that formed into one…

Wow yeah that sounds epic! Monkey paw would be a fire strain name :joy:

Thank you for the tip, and for the replies. I’ll check out ACE!

Megatron nugs… :eyes:

As an aside I crossed it to a 7-8 week indica and it was still electric but much more manageable according to those who have grown it.

But yeah ACE i’m a big fan even though there’s some shade there but it’ll give you some ideas. You never knew you needed a Siberian ruderalis and a 22 week Indian until you see them :joy:

I have some haze dominant hybrids if you want.

If this is bad for my wallet, I know who to blame lmao

I just crossed Malawi Gold to Deep Chunk and I’m hoping to get a soaring Sativa high but with a more manageable plant structure for smaller spaces and reduced flowering time. It should increase bud density for modern ‘bag appeal’ too.

Gonna pop the F1s soon, excited to see what pops out!

Haze? I been in search of a killer kush/haze cross.

I have a Hindu Kush x panama/malawi if that interests you.

Check out Queen Mother Sativa by Delicatessen; also worked by Colorado Sativa’s which is where I sourced my set of beans via an OG hookup as he only ships within :us: .

It’s brain food. The mrs and I smoke a bowl and then 3 hours go by like a flash and all our chores are somehow done.

Here’s the 2025 plant around 8+ feet in a 30gal fabric pot sitting at magic hour in my yard as of a few days ago:

That reminds me of a pine tree❤️

But smells of sweet spice!

Ooh keep me updated on that, would be keen to see how that cross turns out.

Got any pics! Sounds interesting forsure

See, brain food? That sounds amazing. The only hang-up here for me is 8+ feet though. If we can shrink that tree down to a manageable bush for indoors, then I’m game!

Anything is possible with enough XP.

My reproduction of Nepali Watermelon Hashplant was indoors with more plants than space and a lot of wildcard :cowboy_hat_face: :man_farmer: shit!

My Jalisco :mexico: Landrace run was so OCD’d to keep them small I ended up with plants under 2ft… lot’s of seeds though!

There’s easy math to make things big or small; the trick is application of said math.

Edit: The tall fucker on the far right is Queen Mother Sativa as grown in a solocup as another example of said applied maths.
