So I’ve basically reset the tent now that I’ve culled both males from the last grow. I have selected two strains. The first is the Sweet Buddha (Laughing Buddha x Island Sweet Skunk) and Chocolopez (Chocolate Thai x Cannalope Haze). The Chocolopez is feminized. So it all depends on the Sweet Buddha this go around if I have seeds or two different strains to smoke.

Update!

@vernal

So the chocolopez seems to be loving the hempy bucket and nutrients.

However, for the life of me I can’t get the sweet Buddha to look better. Growth had been scrawny with weird leaves. The pH is correct with runoff at 6. I’ve been giving the same nutes to both plants. Following the feeding schedule on the GH bottled nutrients

I’ve done 3 pH water runoffs with the sweet Buddha to stabilize the pH but the growth just hasn’t really taken off the way I want it to. Do you think it’s possible the roots haven’t made it to the res yet?

Temps are 77-80 with lights on. No colder than 63 with lights off. Same quantum board as I was using last time.

Unsure on the lil guy…sometimes you do get a weird plant from seed…I don’t see anything glaringly wrong with the plant, just looks kinda runty. I’d stay the course, keep checking the runoff pH every day, see if it improves, gets worse, or stays the same.

It doesn’t really matter when they reach the reservoir, as long as the media is sufficiently moist they’ll be fine, the reservoir is just a buffer that holds a little extra water between waterings.

It definitely is a bit runty. And I’m just super surprised because the chocolopez looks great. Hopefully she will pull through with the next few sets of leaves.

As always thanks for all the help!

If the new growth at the center of the apical bud looks fine, then it’s on the right track. Looks fine enough from the photos. I’m always around, lemme know if you got any q’s!

absolutely will do. I’m still pretty fresh when it comes to hempy buckets. But it seems that once the fundamentals are down, its really a good grow system.

100%

For a small scale hobby grower it’s tough to beat. Once you get it really going and pH under control it’s got great growth rates, good yields, super low maintenance.

Restored from the wimpiness of before! Both are doing excellent! Probably going to continue veg for at least 2-4 weeks before flipping to flower and see if I got a daddy on my hands.

This is the sweet Buddha. Do any of you know if these are male or female preflowers?

I think I see a male preflower in the first pic. Hope I’m wrong.

I hope you’re right! I’m looking to cross the chocolopez to the island sweet skunk x laughing Buddha!!

Leaning male I think, so you’ll know for sure in a few days.

sweet. I will flip it over today! I am wondering about just fully pollinating versus selectively pollinating? Thoughts? I am leaning more towards selectively pollinating to get a few hundred seeds or so.

The plants have certainly bushed out on me quite a bit. Working on maintaining canopy height. Although since I’m only 4 days into the flip, I firmly suspect the growth spurt hadn’t happened yet.

You are a master of understatement… Better buckle up…

Alright! Confirmed male and female! Gonna trim down the male a bit and branch out the female to expose more bud sites to the light. Apparently from what I understand it doesn’t take a lot of pollen to pollinate the female. Was considering maybe saving some of the laughing Buddha x Island sweet skunk pollen maybe? Gotta look up how to do that though.

I’ve been bamboozled again. Just this morning when I checked on the plants, the male stretched super hard. Gotta trim him up some more to allow the female to thrive
