Moka's caffeinated chronicles

Also as a small update the laughing buddha x island sweet skunk male is starting to develop a musty sweet aroma with hints of lime while the chocolopez is getting more of a complex aroma that is reminiscent of nag champa

Edit. The chocolopez is also developing purple stems

Quick update. Now that the pistils are darkening and the bracts are starting to swell, I have culled the male and am in the process of collecting what pollen remains!.

I also brought the light in closer and pulled some branches down to make a more even canopy with some light trim work.

Here we are 23 days into flower with positive calyx swelling and seed production! The chocolopez female is giving off more of a sweet vanilla spice smell with undertones of lemon lime and coming along nicely!!

Still using the general hydroponics flora series for nutrients in a 100% hempy bucket.

Managed to collect and store some pollen from the island sweet skunk x laughing buddha male and am considering re-pollinating at day 30. @vernal any experience with seed production?

That’s a fine time to pollinate. Just let them run a good 6 weeks or when you notice ripe seeds bursting out of the bracts.

It seems like a tenuous timing between seed collection and overall harvesting.

True, but you can just run the non-pollinated plants a little longer. Won’t hurt 'em.

It’s official. I’m a dad.

First seed popped out while flushing the bucket. I’ve got it drying with some rice right now. Will continue to flower the chocolopez and post more pics in a sec

Couple of pictures of the chocolopez trucking along. I have a bit of nute burn on the tips. I have since moved back nutes a bit and started weekly flushing to prevent further issues.

My hope is that since she is around 32 days in, she will continue to fill out and develop. I estimate she has at least one month and a week ahead.

Starting to develop piney, floral scents, with maybe juniper? Stems have red veins and rubbing is a deep musky cheesy smell.

Just a lil update. The chocolopez seems to be frosting up quite a bit, hopefully this also means she is finally entering her bulking phase as well. Starting to develop just a bit of purple on the tips of her top buds.

Update! I know I accidentally re-vegged my chocolopez! She is growing strange leaves out of her buds. I left a tent flap open one day for air flow and didn’t get back home until after the lights went off and caused a light leak. Oh well! Nothing to do but keep at it? @vernal since you are my spirit guide this grow, any recommendations?

One day? A single missed dark cycle shouldn’t cause a full reveg.

Lemme see a picture if you can swing it.

It may have been more than a day. For the past 2 ish weeks I have been fighting nute burn and what seemed like stalled growth. She is putting on more trichome coverage now and doesn’t seem to be growing anything other than the single blade leaves that I have attached. But I have been trying to control humidity by keeping the tent mesh flap open and running a dehumidifier in the tent. I have also had to pull my overflow bucket out after watering to get rid of excess moisture to maintained desirable humidity. So I think I may not have been 100% with closing that tent flap when lights are out which is what may have caused the accidental reveg.

So if she did reveg that would explain some of the nute burn in my opinion. From what I’ve researched the plant doesn’t need really much in the way of nutrients when it re-vegges. But I’ve switched over to the maxibloom only at around 650ppms with a pH of 6 to make sure nothing else is messed up on that front.

My plan is to not open that mesh flap anymore and drop the 12/12 light cycle to 11/13. I’ve also flicked out my quantum board to make sure it doesn’t have a diode malfunction and it seems to be good. @vernal I think I should just stay the course. Any other thoughts? The ultimate goal is still to make seeds and she doesn’t have any bananas that I can see

Looks like a normal plant with some mild tip burn. Not a big deal in the slightest, we don’t smoke leaf-tips lol.

Stay the course she’ll be fine. Re-veg takes at least a couple weeks for a flowering plant to actually revert under veg cycle lighting. Just watch for nanners but a single missed light cycle isn’t anything to worry about.

Thanks for the advice. Will stay the course!

You mentioned those are seeded buds as well?

They are! I pollinated the chocolopez with a laughing Buddha x Island sweet skunk around 2 weeks into flower. She has already produced a few seeds for me
