Moka's caffeinated chronicles

Makes sense, looks like more or less totally normal seeded bud. Doesn’t matter if it revegges when you’re making seed anyway.

Glad to hear it. I was low key freaking out. It’s my first pollen chuck. So I’ve been trying to treat her like a baby. But it’s also my first Hempy bucket.

I’ve read where some will put the plant back into veg after they pollinate, to free up space in bloom. Seeds can also develop if preflowers get pollen on them while in veg.

A little confused now that I’ve been deep diving into tap water ppms and such. My tap water is 102 ppm. Online I see that it’s as a result of calcium carbonate in the water. Instead of supplementing with calmag, would I just need to add a small amount of epsom due to the natural calcium already in the water?

I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible. 7g of maxibloom with 1 gram of epsom salt pH up to 6 is what I currently have in my one gallon watering container.

In a general sense, I find more problems from supplementing epsom than just foregoing it, but yeah you probably won’t need cal-mag with 100 ppm and a high calcium fertilizer.

Calcium-magnesium ratio can get out of whack. Maxibloom has plenty of Magnesium and 6% calcium it’s plenty to grow plants. 102 ppm isn’t bad at all. I’d just use the Maxi, personally.

My water is 350+ppm.

I am just overthinking it then! Thank you so much for the advice!

Nothing wrong with trying to optimize, but I find over and over simplicity is usually best.

Just another small update. Surprised at the amount of trichome coverage on the top buds. Plant seems to be frosting up nicely. Have some purpling going on.

Switched over to straight pH 6 maxibloom for hopefully the rest of the grow.

Thinking she is winding down her life cycle now. Seeing lots of ripe seeds that are starting to fall off her and getting around 60% milky trichomes with 28% being clear and maybe 2% amber.

Here are some pics of the buds!

I expect subpar yields due to pollinating so early during her flowering period. She is at 47 days since flip. Going to keep chugging along and see if she chunks up, but I am doubtful. Will probably pull around 50-60 days if she keeps maturing those trichomes and nothing else.

Feel free to chime in!!

As a quick question, would anyone be willing to be a tester and grow out my first cross?

@vernal Do you find early pollination shortens the overall flowering cycle?

Not really…kind of arrests the swelling process on heavily pollinated branches since the plant is deciding to make resource-intensive seeds instead of more resin and buds, and further the plant will appear more done because the pistils turn orange and wither after pollination.

That makes a lot of sense! I’ve already collected near 60 seeds that have fallen off the plant. I am starting some of the fan leaves start to yellow overall and am thinking she is starting her fade.

If they’re ripe and just falling off the plant you can probably harvest. Take a test bud dry it and check overall development.

Well color me tickled pink. She started throwing out fresh pistils. Still having fan leaf yellowing and the frostiness is increasing overall. Guess I’ll just keep on track and run her into the ground

She is clouding up nicely. In a few days she will be at 8 weeks exactly since flip.

Today is chop say! At exactly 8 weeks flowering! Will update pics once I’ve trimmed!

I’ve been trimming and removing seeds all day. It’s going to take a quick minute. More than happy to send seeds out to interested parties.

Back in action! Working on 2 beans with my current micro grow. I have a Mountain Temple from Bodhi, and my own pollen chuck Chocolate Buddha. Both were germed on 08/26/2021. The mountain temple has super vigorous growth and seems to be thriving in the hempy bucket.

The chocolate buddha is a bit of a slower grower. Just ph’d my runoff and its closer to 7 than I would like, so I flushed the bucket and put in some more Ph 5.7 water with maxigro (1/2 strength) and silica (0.5ml). I am a bit surprised at how fat the leaves are, hoping they will slim a bit as it gets more mature. Also noting purple stems (which the fem chocolopez had (mother)).

Will update a bit more regularly and keep a log ongoing.

1 gallon hempy buckets with maxigro/maxibloom nutrients 100% perlite
Underneath a HLG QB 100W 3100k spectrum
2 x 2 x 5 ft tent with a 4 inch AC infinity exhaust fan and attached carbon filter.

Plants are both around 18 days old. The mountain temple de-shelled around 4 days sooner than the chocolate buddha, so its a tad behind comparitively. Will veg for at least 2-3 more weeks before flip. I usually LST and top/fim throughout.

Hoping both are female this run. If I get one and one, the male will be trashed. If both are male, may collect MT pollen at a minimum.

Tuned in to see where this Chocolate Buddha goes!
