Moka's caffeinated chronicles

Finally getting that explosive growth I’m looking for with both the mountain temple and chocolate Buddha. Will evaluate around the first of October to see if they are ready to flip.

As a side note the tent has started to take on a skunky smell already in veg.

They’re starting to hit their stride! Great work man.

Love the early smells! Makes you feel like you’re onto something! :joy:

First pic is from the mountain temple
Second is from the chocolate Buddha. I understand why the tent smells. Both are producing some glandular trichomes. Zoom in to see them. I’ll have to check on them again in 7 days and hopefully that’ll allow me to sex them a bit easier.

Fingers crossed they are both females!

Good pic of the trichomes

They keep bushing out. Now giving full strength maxigro with 1 ml of silica. They both seem super healthy!

Chocolate Buddha still lagging about 3-5 days behind from the mountain temple, however it has lots of internodes. If it has a smaller stretch when flip happens, it will probably end up being more of an indica phenotype.

Interesting leaf mutation on the chocolate Buddha. Has 13 fingers and 2 are coming from the center.

Gave em both the big trim and tie down before the flip next week on October first!

Flushed the reservoirs today to prevent nutrient build up. Tried to take some clones. Mostly snipped and put in rapid rooters in a small cup of water. We will see if roots happen. If not no biggie.

Pretty sure the chocolate Buddha is a male

Still unclear with my mountain temple

Well, it appears that both are male, confirmed by @toastyjakes on the identification thread. Will chop em and think of what to run for round two!

I chose to pop 2 beans of Bodhis pinball wizard!

How are those pinball wizards coming along Moka?

They are doing well! I actually ended up tossing one slow growing/runty pinball wizard into the compost. Currently in the tent are 1 really fast growing happy looking pinball wizard and 2 super lavender jacks (super silver cough (super silver haze x the cough) x lavender jack (jack herer x wookie)). I am wondering if I should do pollen chuck into combining these two strains (pinball wizard and super lavender jack) if i end up getting a male this run. The final strain if so would be aroud 66% sativa and 33% indica if my calculations are correct.

The strain breakdown would be
(super silver haze x wookie) x (super silver haze x the cough x jack herer x wookie)

With a total of
33% being super silver haze (11-12 week flower time)
16% being jack herer (has a 8-10 week flower time *sankofaherbalist pollinated a 12 week late flowering version for his cross)
16% being the cough (which has a 12 week flower time)
33% being wookie (generally regarded as an 8-9 week flower time)

So if I do end up making seeds, I would guess that looking for the longer flowering progeny would be the way to go. The more haze leaning phenotypes.

That’s great! Sounds like it would be a great cross. Who doesn’t love hazy stuff?

You could always just make a branch or two of seeds! I make it a habit to get a few seeds from each of my plants so that if the effects slap me upside the head just right, I have a shot at coming back to her. (don’t clone much) Doesn’t really cause you to lose much smoke either. Just my 2¢ though.

What’s the process with that? Just isolating the male once identified and maybe painting on some pollen once collected?

Exactly! What has worked well for me so far is collecting pollen in ziplocks, then carefully covering a branch and shaking to disperse pollen. Leave it covered for 30 min or so. Then I misted fairly heavily with water to kill any remaining viable pollen.

But you can paint, whatever works best for you! The key is simply controlling pollen contamination of the other branches. So no airflow, and small controlled amounts then water after 30 minutes.

So the pinball wizard is definitely farther along than the super lavender jacks. Just did a full flush for all of the buckets. Increase the nutrients for the pinball wizard since it’s farther along to correct the small deficiency I see on the top leaves. Probably here in a couple days I’ll end up topping both of the super lavender jacks to promote ancillary node growth.

I’m always amazed by the rapid growth once the plants hit the reservoir in hempy buckets!

Flush incoming on Sunday. Keeping on the veg train for at least 2-3 more weeks before flip

Just finished flushing and upping the nutrients. Did some light lst and defoliation. Will theoretically flip on Thanksgiving if all goes to plan!

Starting to take off quite a bit

I don’t know how I missed this grow log @Moka, but I’m here now with a caffeine boost!
