Mushrooms - DIY, spores, etc šŸ„ (Part 1)

The only problem with that is I donā€™t have a PC, I am sterilizing my jars is a steamer. I steam them for two hours, can what your suggesting be done in a steamer? Also, I am using a SGFC, the popcorn method you would pour that out on your substrate, yes?

Hmmmm. You can sterilize in a steam bath. Shoot you are fruiting your cakes, arenā€™t you? Have you thought about doing a simple bulk method? Yield.goes.up exponentially for slightly more time investment.

No thatā€™s the problem, this particular cake is not fruiting. This is the first time I have tried this, so I am asking those that have been successful, what could I be doing incorrectly.
I chose the brf tek and SGFC method first to learn the process, then move to the bulk substrate method. Hope this helps my explain my dilemma.

Well, I always had issues with pf tek. Bulk came easier to me. Trying the rice packs wonā€™t hurt, after they colonize you just rip them open and put it into your sgfc to fruit.

Ooooh. Epiphany. Whenever I had a hard time getting a strain to fruit I would give it 24 hours of light, then 48 of dark. Almost always triggers pinning when they go back on a normal light cycle.

How about a soak in ice cold water and then a nice bangā€¦ most strains of mushroom need an abrupt temperature drop or a physical shock (like banging the jar in which the mycelium is in) these changes trigger mushroom mycelium to ā€œwake upā€ as to respond to a threat and assure the continuation of its species by producing fruiting bodies and eventually spores to carry on.

Japanese have done this ā€œshockingā€ method for ages and with great results. The inoculated tree trunks with shitake are kept in ideal and humidity controled places. When time has come, they give the inoculated trunks a violent banging and the. Let them rest. Sure enough some days later the first flush of pins start to appear.

Hope this may be of any use.

You can always add h2o2 hydrogen peroxide to the water when preparing the spawn.

Look for hydrogen peroxide Tek.

I went grain to agar for shits and giggles on two plates that didnā€™t have much condensation. Turning out nice.

Iā€™m going to sterilize a glass brewing thermometer and see how cool I can pour it.

I use to grow/eat them bigtime back in the dayā€¦A great way to preserve their potency is the put them in honey & fridgeā€¦

I just used some gift cards from work to buy an entire PF tek setup - pressure cooker, jars, BRF and vermiculite. I guess this counts as a wellness activity?

Canā€™t wait to join the ranks of all you fungus wizards here, probably with a lot of fuck-ups in between.

My emotional septic tank has been dying for a purge.

I probably spent $4-500 before I yielded anything. Just keep at it

Thanks for the heads up on both those guys!

Iā€™m honestly not sure what to try first - if I should just go cheap and do Shiitake or something to get my game down before I blow spores?

Iā€™ve heard reliable reports from mushrooms.com also.

Iā€™ve only tried Golden Teacher but Iā€™ve read ā€œstrainsā€ in the realm of psylocybin donā€™t actually differ from each other on mental effects?

Iā€™m not trying to start a holy war here, just piping back what Iā€™ve taken in.

Has anybody heard the expression " a cube is a cube " there isnā€™t any real difference when its from multi spore ( spore syringe ) .The GT you grow one time may not be the same next time or any other strain for that matter . The descriptions are just for sales . Wood lovers or pans thatā€™s a different story they are different . Fungi is not a plant . Just my 2 cents . :grinning:

Got bored one day and felt like playing around. I took a few handfulls of dirt out of one of my pot plants. Ran water through it til it was flushed down to tap ppm. Pasteurized that in the oven and boiled some water while that was going down. Added sugar to the boiled water after boiling. Hydrated pasteurized dirt with sugar water to field capacityā€¦think thatā€™s the right term. Spawned brf cake to that. 1:10 ratio cake : dirt Here we are today, it worked! Lol. B plus from mushrooms dot com. First flush about to pop off!

Iā€™m gonna need a fruiting chamber didnā€™t expect this to work :yum:

So mushrooms.com was awesome 10 years ago, last order I made from them a year ago all had trich contam under the scope. I was amazed because I had never had a problem before that, except for mislabeled syringes (got koh Samui super strain( short mutation) instead of orissa indian). Try

Or
https://oregonhighspores.com/

Both are super reliable, good guys.

Iā€™d disagree, they all grow the same, but a south American vs a southeast Asian vs Florida vs APE are fairly different. Its the ratios of norbaeocistin : baeocistin : psilocin : psilocybin that give them the nuance. Overall they are very close, Florida are super smooth, usually you donā€™t get much of the rushing come up feeling. The southeast Asian, lots of rush, crisp and clear, south American very colorful, strong closed eye patterns and visuals, APE in a league of its own. Air thick with visuals, almost hard to see. Stuff snapping in and out of existence.
