i’ll be doing a little mutant cross pollination soon, but i’m curious if they’re all compatible? i suspect they would be, but with such vegetables like peppers, some varieties will not breed with others…
i heard that with freakshow genetics, the ‘freakshow’ trait only passes on when using a freakshow mother? (or mostly with mothers, i don’t remember)
i have a freakshow mother and an ‘ottos ducksfoot’ mother as well and i plan to pollinate both with some australian bastard cannabis pollen to see what comes of them…
I think in theory you could make any of them be mutation dominant by crossing or back crossing them to the plant of which mutant trait you’d like to reinforce. So in theory you could cross them all and create line types of each cross that express the specific leaf morphology.
I think one of the big issues with constant leaf mutation and stress is that then you have to work through generations to like improve their photosynthesis ability of the leafs are too mutated? We have a fella who was working with a large ABC male called dooligah though and I think he brought up how a specific type of ABC leaf mutation leads to enhanced growth.
There is one guy who seems to be as close as you can possibly get when you try to combine the leaf shape that wants to be as close as possible (Maple Leaf) with a leaf shape that want separate each individual serration (Fern Leaf)
He only speaks German and he has a company called Kalyseeds, but that strain is still being worked on. He discovered the SWAG mutation which is just a mutation on the leafs were the leafs don’t have any serrations and are totally smooth on the sides. But this project was started just last year so if you want to still beat him to be the first you got some catching up to do and just pray that the mutation finds you before he finds it first.
Otherwise if you just want to have a unique plant that wont be on the market for a long time or ever probably, then keep at it, cuz his stuff RARELY leaves Europe and if it does then you could cross it to your plant and you could still call it your own.
But even if any cool creations do get here they get overshadowed by all the hype strains or coorpate cannabis and often overlooked due to the fact that when you do start to combine and hunt for mutants you want you will have to sacrifice fundamental grow habits like vigor, resistneces to the environment, and frost (but that last one doesn’t matter if you are looking for a orimential/novality plant) Other then that combining the two mutant is total possible, freakshow only came out 5-6 years ago after all. So it’s just like the old wild west days, the frontier is open, but someone is always ahead of you.
If you cross ABC with freakshow you will get normal looking plants. First generation 100 normal. Cross those seeds over each other f2 25 percent mutant f3 100 percent mutant. People do it all the time on discord. Type in dooligah on here school down through his grow diary and look for the discord link most of the freakshow and ABC growers are on there.
