I’ll be using rice for that test. This time it was something different! lol I test them one at a time but I’m sure I got a winner here. I did the spin of the hash for 30 seconds! Also lifted the 220 sack out as fast as I could. The hash came out almost dry from the spinning then it chopped up so nicely! Also you can see I all but eliminated the plant fiber contamination with some sleight-of-hand. I’ll show you the rice one just lemme get a photo.

The hash is inside the parchment and it’s a ziplock with the air removed. That’s black and basmati rice, I’ll eat it after this

I ripped some of that hash I made. It hissed like there was still water inside but it puffed up and I got a hit! Guess there wasn’t enough water to make it explode, that’s what usually happens, and you are left with a half-charred hit.

Did you put that ziplock in the freezer or shelf dried?
in the freezer, I’m always freeze drying now! Freeze dried killed the rest with fresh flavors!

ok!!! public service announcement! If you are not using centripetal acceleration on your hash before you freeze dry it, then you better fucking start right NOW. I think I shaved off 75% of the drying time by using that technique. In terms of genius ideas, I am rolling that one out to everyone I know ASAP, it’ll save soooooo much time and energy I feel stupid for not doing it before! Spin the hash in the bag for 30 seconds, and 90% of the water will just fly out of there like it’s allergic to hash. Later on today I’ll rip the rice batch, it’s gotta be good and dry by now.

I heard of someone using a büchner funnel to achieve the same thing. I just ordered me a beer freezer to freeze dry my next harvest. I’m getting excited to wash up some hash, its been over a year!

oh I promise you it’s going to be a cut above the rest. Nothing can scratch the flavor of freeze dried, it’s crazy. lol I can’t wait. Not that many people are doing it? Not even sure but the only one I really seen do it was superiorbuds. Except… You know people at the contest were doing it, but there was an additional twist they had done I thought was strange. Doing the hash mix at 0C. I’ve done it at -5C but it didn’t appear to make a difference so I don’t do that. Hard to get down to that temps but buddy at the contest was doing the mix in a walk in blast freezer. Sounds cold.

Thats why I mentioned the büchner funnel. 
you should be able to put a hash patty on there with a 25 micron screen, turn on the pump, and pull all of the water out of the hash. I’ll try it next time… for science!
A clean microfiber cloth under the 25 micron screen does the same thing, but much slower.

dooohh I got bad news for the rice batch. It’s like I just plopped it in there yesterday.
sealing it up does not help the freeze drying, it stops it. Love puddle fail!!!

I’m not sure the funnel can capture the raw power of centripetal acceleration, but I am interested in seeing the results!!!

oh shit, well if you put a plastic bag around your bubble bag and let rip, it’ll contain the spray in the outer bag for disposal.

Hmm, I wonder if rice absorbs similarly as much as the silica packets?
Did you take it in and out of the freezer? Dint you mention that as a theory about how the freeze drying process works with the door being opened and closed?
They are also different size considerations to play with as well.

What if you did that and then maybe you could distill/RSO that water in the bag?
