My Bubble hash making tech

So @joecrowe I finally got 5 gal, not my shitty 1 gal) bubble bags and was able to really make hash. Using your brake wrist method I was able to get the hash to form in balls I could easily pick out instead of scraping out with spoon. Then the pieces sat on 25 drying cloth for couple hours and went in freezer. Was in freezer for a week and tried the foot grater again but with success this time. Before the hash got kinda packed to get picked up and put in freezer so wouldnt grate was hard as rock. This time it kinda felt like wet sand so I tried grating small amount on parchment and wow! This is scraped up a little so more can dry but was evenly spread out does this look right?

It’s nice and hard like sand grains or at least sounds like sand on parchment. Here’s some just grated.

Now once these are dry is that the time to roll into ball to let cure? Do I store same as bud to cure just in sealed glass jar? Thanks

I just keep the hash frozen at all times. That way the volatile compounds don’t evaporate!

You forgot to spin it , so was out of freezer longer than needed and also may take longer to freeze dry due to slightly higher water content

Send it to me and I’ll dispose of it for you

So i have about 8 big ziplock bags full of fresh frozen. Looking to do some bubble soon, i have ordered new full mesh bags and have enlisted the aid of my brother to run that set and my old set.

A few questions to the group first.

  1. How much fresh frozen per 5 gallon bucket run? I have seen between 700 and 1000 grams suggested. Would like to get the most for my time, but not overload the bags, its why i enslaved a minion.

  2. Can someone explain this freeze drying to me again? Can i put the bubble into the freezer in a open container for a while and then grate it and break it down? Store it in the freezer after?

  3. Is getting a rosin press worth it if i make hash once a year? I do plan to have a lot of hash this run, but seasons are variable

  4. Whats your favorite way to smoke bubble? I have found myself mixing weed and kief into hash is my preference right now

Previously i have left my bubble out for a day or so and then put it into containers and into the freezer for 3 months until i begin to smoke it regularly. Have never grated it or anything just spread it thinly and chopped it up.

I go with 1000 grams of fresh frozen buds.

Yes! I just chop it up before freeze drying, but you can freeze then shred it to dry it. The thing about freeze drying in the freezer is it has to be tiny bits to dry out.

Here’s the thing. Those machines are worth cash. I don’t use mine very often, but I do use it on hash that isn’t as flavorful. Or hash that’s like…mm best as rosin. That’s where it shines! The OGK is fairly good as hash, but next level as rosin. Same with that outdoor stuff from last year, there was no contamination left from outdoor growing in the rosin. moldy buds → top grade rosin.

Leaving it out will evaporate some of the volatile organics aka terpenes and also darken the hash. The less exposure to temps above 0C, the better.

Thanks hashmaster. Yee have mine own fealty, this i swear

I will be posting pics and asking advice. I think i can really do something special this go around, thanks to an abundance of bags and some experience.

Have you explained how you do an extraction with solvent with the wet material afterwards to get all the goods? If not, can you please break it down for me? I was planning to do maybe a everclear extraction afterwards, but most likely just a butter extraction because i dont have a good place for solvent extractions.

Mainly curious how all the water would effect things

one last question. i have a quartz banger and a few older devices.is a terp slurper really worth it? where can one learn about these newer devices? are enails still a good option? switching to being a bubble smoker is tricky

Most people are terp slurping with rosin for sure. I would take the left overs from making the bubble and dry it out on a screen. Then make oil. I don’t do that any more it’s a waste of time! I have lots of dried out bubble waste I take out and look at under the microscope sometimes. It’s more a curiosity piece now. You could make tincture out of it, but I would question it’s potency. I have some solidified bubble waste oil as well, lol! It’s got to be 4 years old. enails work pretty good, and I’ve used bangers. I definitely had a preference for the terp slurper when I tested out all the nuts paraphernalia at the dab station. When I saw buddy this year he was surprised by my transformation from hot knives to terp slurpers and titanium dab tools.

What brands of portable washers make the best options for a long term bubble hash washer?

My fiance is saying i take too long to make bubble and need to streamline it (shes right). So was looking at a few suggestions and reviews

Have you considered putting more materials in the wash? Doing a kilo or more at a time really burns through the frozen bags of buds.

I use a 5 gallon washer from Amazon. I did replace the hose with a food grade one. It’s not really any faster than hand washing, but it’s easier on the shoulders and back.

@JoeCrowe uses a drill and makes award winning hash!

It was marketed as Bubble Bag Dude or something like that.

You can do a lot with a powerful corded drill! When I was a bread baker the way we’d mix up 50 gallons of liquid sourdough or yeast starter (preferment) at a time in white Brute trash cans on dollies was with this combo, and I think I’m going to go the Joe way instead of a washer this winter, finally starting to have enough flower around for hashing:

lol! I read “mash mixer” as hash mixer…of course. That thing is huuuuuuge! Ahem… that’s what she said…

I have a similar mixer and the same drill.
I found that it was way too much of a mixer and hard to keep it a slow constant speed.
I cut 2 lobs off of it and found that I had better control .

Personal experience and Joe’s photographical images say use a cake mixer …been there paint mixer mud mixer yadda yadda the plus side of them is shaft length …dig a little deeper yah know .remember we r not to pulverize the product ! …bought a corded drill called “Warrior” from the local harbor freight…trigger tension means nothing to this thing …full speed ahead lol …I use a cordless drill with a . 1.5 amh battery …deff doesn’t have the capability to create the whirlpool effect throughout the whole solution but it does the job lol … I’m rambling first time smoking today

Picking the ‘right’ drill for the job is important (the difference is dramatic). You want the one they sell for mixing (it will be a geared down version).

That Dewalt looks like the right speed.
