My current grow

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in! This will be my first diary type post on overgrow. So let me start by introducing myself. I’m 46 and have a wife and kids and dogs, and work full time. Growing cannabis is a hobby/passion of mine I do for fun, and have grown off and on for 30ish years. I love this plant, and have always wanted to cultivate, but as it was illegal most of my life, I’ve been very low key with it, and only grown sporadically. I bought a house awhile ago, and since then have slowly started growing outside, then about 3 years ago, I got the go ahead from the wife, and setup my first tent in the garage, and haven’t stopped growing since!

I’ve had my ups and downs, but haven’t stopped, and for the most part I feel like I’m getting decent at growing cannabis. By that I simply mean I can usually make it through a grow without having too many problems. And if I do have problems, I’ve gotten much better at solving them. I bring forth no ego, and love learning new things. Please feel free to chime in with any tips or tricks, or photos and your experiences! All this being said, I would like to start pollen chucking, and making my own crosses.

A little more about me is I’ve passionately played guitar since I was a teenager until I was I was in my thirties. I wasn’t the best at it, but I was pretty good, I’m still ok, but I loved it, and was passionate about it. As I’ve gotten older I still pick it up, but I don’t have the drive for it as I did in my younger days. To bring my digression full circle; my favourite part about playing guitar was writing songs. Anyone out there who makes anything in general, knows how much fun it is to create. That’s why I’ve always wanted to try making seeds. I love to create no matter what I’m doing! And I think I’m ready to take that next step… so in this thread, I’m going to post my current grow, which is about 39 days into flower I think. I’m also going to put up my seed list of what I currently have to choose from for my future breeding projects. I plan to give out the seeds freely to the community once ready. I would like to make feminized seeds, but am open to regulars as well. I have colloidal silver, but would prefer to use sts, as I hear it’s superior in most ways. I’m not sure where to get it as the chemicals aren’t easily available in Canada, but I’m sure it’s here somewhere. What I would like is for people to maybe help me decide what to cross, as I haven’t grown most of the seeds I have, lol. Or if anyone has pollen to donate that they think would make a good cross, please let me know, and I will gladly kick you back some seeds. Anyhow, I probably won’t start the seed run until middle to late August, because I don’t have AC in the garage where my tent is. So there’s lots of time to choose…

Here’s some pics of my seed list, I’ll post pics of my grower later when my lights come on….

Here’s a couple pics of my current grow. All the plants were started from seed at different times, but are flowering together. The smallest plant in the front right is a bubble fantasy from cult classic seed. It’s small, but smells fantastic, like dank bubblegum. The front left is bag of oranges from @Vegabom. Nice little plant, so far it smells very piney. She’s showing a little N deficiency, I just top dressed some worm castings, so hopefully that helps. Also, it’s my first time using Gaia green, so maybe I needed to add a little more all purpose??? :man_shrugging: Oh well, I’m not overly worried about it. The back left plant with bamboo poles, is a pure og fallen soldier from Humboldt CSI. And the back right is a LSD reproduction from @DougDawson, stacking nicely, and smelling fantastic!

Your current grow is looking real nice! You’ve got some great genetics to work with, so I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Update time. It’s day 48 or 49 of flower for my tent. Things are going ok, but I could probably be doing better. It’s my first grow using Gaia green, and I think I got behind in the top dressing department. The plants didn’t seem to be doing much, and were showing a little bit of deficiencies, so I top dressed again, and they’re looking happier I think. I’ll definitely reapply feed sooner next time. I’ve been growing inside for a few years now, and have tried a lot of different styles. I started with dwc, and grew 2 giant plants, which turned out to be stressful and a lot of work. I didn’t have the climate controls I do now, no pH meter, just the drops, no AC infinity controller 69, no inkbird, just the basics. Growing in an unheated garage in Canada in the winter. It was a shit show! After that I switched to coco coir, for a run. Tried autopots, but was constantly having trouble, with hindsight I’m guessing a drifting pH, and even had a flood. Switched to peat, and have mostly stuck with that ever since. I’ve used/tried many products/bottled nutrients. Which brings me to now and Gaia green. I really like Gaia green so far, it’s super easy, and the plants seem to really like it. I think there may be a little less yield than I’m used to, but it really is incredibly easy. No mixing nutes every other day, just top dress every few weeks. The plants basically grow themselves, which is really hard to beat. I’ve always wanted to grow organically as well. Anyhow, I think next time I’ll get the timing down better. Here’s a few pics from today

Most of the pics are of the LSD reproduction DD did, or the pure og fallen soldier from Humboldt CSI. The two smaller plants in front are bag of oranges, and bubble fantasy.

Thanks pine! Yeah I harvested already. I’ve been busy with renovations, and getting ready to sell my house. I’ll put up a better grow log in the fall.
