Hi -
I am new here but have a couple of grows under my belt - My current grow is All Autos (except one) a GDP auto and the rest from Mephisto: Samsquanch, Double Grape Sour Stomper, Chemdogging, Cosmic Queen and 4-assed Monkey. They are all various ages 40-70 days from sprout.
They are all in 3 gallon pure coco coir.
The largest and oldest I call Virgin Amy because she popped up in my Amnesia Auto that was flowering in my last grow - I thought it was an auto but after others that were younger flowered, I could see that she needed 12/12 so I switched a week ago and she has started to flower.
I have a 4x4x7 with 4 HLG 288 v2 up top and this grow I decided to do some under the canopy lighting to encourage lower branch bud growth - so I put a low wattage 150w HPS at pot level.
One of my plants I call Mellow-Yellow cause she has always had yellow - light-lime green coloring - I tried everything and the slurry tests come back saying she is not deficient or locked out - so I just accept that she is an anomaly and they can trun out to be the best.
I am getting ready to start germinating my seeds for my first all outdoor grow - I will be trying to make a living soil with cover / companion crop of clover, heavy amendments of meals and ACT teas - I will be growing 2 photos and 9 autos and then another 9 autos started 2 months later - They will be RocBudInc and NightOwl seeds.
I am happy to be a member of this forum.
Being fairly new here as well, but feeling like itâs ok for me to say âwelcome to the OG communityâ !!! Iâm quite sure youâre definitely going to enjoy it here, everyoneâs so hospitable and helpful. Not saying that you needed any help, with those pretty little ladies there. I absolutely love that yellow one, always was a fan of different, I would be bald by now if I had her as I wouldâve pulled all my hair out trying to figure that one out
Thank you @Indoornesian
I like asymmetrical grows with all different strains and different ages, I am not sure I will ever be a candidate for a sog .
Mellow Yellow has had many experts trying to figure her out and the consensus is that its either genetics or a mutation. She has been like this since a seedling and very healthy in every other way⌠I canât wait to see what she flowersâŚ
This is my first mephisto growâŚ
Well Iâm taken aback with that one, and canât wait to get a smoke report on Mellow Yellow. Hopefully you got a few cuttings from her.
I like the fact that you have various stages of flowering plants, easy to harvest a single plant then to have to cut n trim the whole room.
yes there are advantages⌠I had been running 6 plants 3 at a time so that I could harvest and grow continuouslyâŚ
I canât cloner her because she is an Autoflower - The strain is Samsquanch from Mephisto - I think its a genetic mutation but I bet she will smoke fantastic! I will definitely report - but its at least 2-3 months from thatâŚ
Absolutely, canât wait for the results. Itâll definitely help to know if a mutant plant is worth keeping around.
I used to grow half of my flower chamber only to fill it up halfway through the grow to get a harvest every 45 days or so, but these days I just stuff it n wait. My flower cab is only a 3 x 2 now so itâs not that bad trimming.
What a beautiful jungle! Iâve no experience with autos, but I love seeing folks work with them. Some really great work out there being done in that niche. Keep it up!
Thank you @Dyad - The biggest advantage to autos is that I can have 2 planting seasons here in Connecticut - But seriously - the quality has improved greatly and the THC content is up there with the bigboysâŚ
Very nice, looks like youâve been doing it for years! Iâve never seen an all yellow plant like that, it must be some sort of strange genetic thing⌠should be cool to see how she turns out
Thank you @beacher - I germinated my first seed in July and Iâm never going back
I only discovered that I could buy seeds then, but I have been smoking for 55 plus years and now I have the time and the passion. I love everything about being a farmer and trying new things.
Mellow Yellow is a mystery that I canât wait to solve
She popped up out of the corner of my Amnesia Auto plant that was in late flower on Jan 1 She got her name because I thought she was from when I stressed the plants by with too close a light earlier and hermied and dropped a seed - I never found any other seeds after harvest so I called her Virgin Amy
which would mean she was an auto - so when I filled my tent my intent was to be an all auto grow - but it turns out that she is a photo and I put the tent on 12/12 2 weeks ago - She is a beast - over 3 ft tall after supercropping several times when I thought she was an auto, and more bud sites than I ever saw before in any of my grows - She is either a Blueberry or Banana Kush photo (hoping sheâs a BK )
Everyone is getting pumped with 1500ppms fertigating 4 times a day and slurry testsâ numbers are terrific. They are loving the Nectar line - I am not using any bloom enhancements or supplements except for ACT teas and meal-dressing. Canât wait to see how she blossoms.
Yes - sheâs a mystery, like Mellow-Yellow -
But Iâm betting that these one-off girls are real FIREâŚ
I havenât tried cloning - I only started growing in July - this is my 3rd grow. After the summer when I will be concentrating on the nuances of outdoors, and living soils and all that goes with that - in the winter I will start looking to get into cloning and ultimately into cultivating strains - I want to do my own crossing at some point in the future. I love everything about this passion and I like to try different things each growâŚ
Good plan. To start off simply with cloning take a small branch and put it in a glass of water somewhere with light. Usually it will root within a monthâŚfrom there you can move onto cubes/domes etc that root much faster and more consistently.
When is the best time - Can I do it while in transition to Flower?
Virgin Amy is the only photo in the tent everything else is an auto so it would have to be her - but I would love to take one branch - sheâs got plentyâŚ
Ya usually theyâre good to go before say 2 weeks into flowering, theyâll root after that too but will take longer. Itâs good to take off small bottom âsuckerâ branches anyways so maybe youâll get a few cuttings out of her
