I found Golden Road Seeds right after BOG passed and I was looking for anyone who was continuing BOG’s work. Marc/Golden Road Seeds was one of the first ones that I found working with his genetics, other than the seed companies I was already aware of. He has a 04 Sour Bubble male that he uses a lot and a Sour Strawberry Kush male that he uses. He released the 04 Sour Bubble once as a pure seed line that is from the bx1 and that is one of the most exciting packs in my collection currently. He also has given away some of the best freebies I’ve ever gotten(as you’ll see later in the thread). After listening to him on podcasts and talking directly to him and growing his work I feel that he has earned a place among my top 5 current breeders which includes: AKbeanbrains, Crickets and Cicada, Tony Green, Professor P/Dynasty/Relic. The most exciting free seeds I’ve gotten recently are from Golden Road which include: Shiva Skunk reproduced from old Sensi packs, F2s of Puck Yeah( Puck Hashplant x NL1)from Coastal Seeds(Bob Hemphills original work), and the one I’m currently growing and the most exciting thing in my garden Nl2/5 from Nevil’s friend Dwight. These are the last work that Nevil did with NL. All of these were free seeds that came with Marc’s already worth while seeds. I also have: Lime Bubble(Black Lime Reservex04Sour Bubble), Black Strawberry preserve(Black Lime Reserve x Sour Strawberry kush), Violet Beauregard(Somas lavender x 04 Sour Bubble). He usually does a 50 percent off sale on 4/20 and 20 percent on other holidays. I say all of this because after growing Marc’s seeds I think he deserves more recognition.
Here’s my review of what I’ve grown from Golden Road so far. You can see from these photos I have tried to improve my photography skills a little.
Black Strawberry Preserve
This plant was awesome and started out looking somewhere between chem 91 and strawberry cough, both of which I grew many years ago. This plant tasted identical to strawberry diesel. It had the in your face strawberry terpenes mixed with the sour terpenes of diesel. The strawberry diesel that I had many years ago was supposedly the same seed line that was used to create Bruce Banner and it reminded me a lot of that. The high was fantastic and was again very similar to that strawberry diesel I had many years ago. It started off very similar to the strawberry diesel but had a sedative indica quality that the original didn’t have. It that had a burst of mental and creative energy but this faded into an extremely sedative high and put me to sleep on numerous occasions.
Puck Yeah f2-pheno 1(hash plant leaner)
This one was one of the most incredible and photogenic plants I have had come through my garden in the last 5-8 years. I happily would have paid 100plus for a pack of this because this is one I always wanted in the past but it eluded me. I would have kept it if I hadn’t been sick. It had a hashplant look from the very beginning as you can see. It quickly started showing incredible resin content(another hash plant trait) from very early on. It had very unique crown shaped buds on the top with amazing fat trichomes. The taste answered the question: what would turpentine and sandalwood bubblegum taste like. It was so strange and unique but really good. The high was one of the most pain relieving and sedative I’ve ever had. It almost always put me to sleep. Made into edibles it almost literally made me black out. I’d be laying in bed reading then I’d wake up 8 hours later without realizing I’d gone to sleep. This happened multiple times during different times of day.
It is still one of the most unique and photogenic plants I’ve had come through my garden.
Puck Yeah f2(NL 1 leaner)
This one was my favorite of the two despite it being a lot less photogenic. It was very obviously NL1 leaning which you can see on my other NL1 thread with AKbeanbrains version. It was just as potent as pheno 1 but had a more complex taste and high. This one had what I’ve always referred to as the turkey dinner terpene profile. It smells like your house after you just ate thanksgiving dinner. I really have missed this terpene profile because it used to be around in my circle a lot around 25 year ago. It also had grape bubblicious and hairspray. The terpene profile was very complex and it evoked a scene to me. Which is what the most complex profiles always do for me as you can see in my review of AKbeanbrains Black Domina x Super Skunk. The terpene profile brought on this scene in my mind. It’s 1989 and it’s thanks giving. You just smoked a joint of some dank 80s era weed you put a piece of grape bubblicious in your mouth as your girlfriend takes you by the hand pulling you back into your house and as you smell the turkey dinner wafting from the inside the house right after you smell her hairspray. This one was very unique because you could taste each of these individually. I should note my tasting method includes joints, a clean bong with hemp wick and a TRWW quartz cap mini. The quartz cap mini is what allows you to really taste strains like a terpene microscope. The high was similar to pheno 1 but had more NL 1 influence and wasn’t as sedative. It also had the NL1 trait of having many of the trichomes on the inside as you can see from the picture.
Up next is the NL2/5. My garden has been completely overhauled with a new tent and new GML light, so this next grow should be awesome.
