I’m not sure what “basics” you are referring too please elaborate?
Leafhoppers can be your absolut worst enemy.
Its been discussed now over 3-5, or more forums about plants turning purple at the growing tips, and progressing into the stems, and turning black, which either kills the plant straight out. Deforms it, and basically is worthless. Sometimes they grow out of it, partially grow out of it, and basically become worthless. It is also extremely contagious.
To get to the point, and while nobody has sent a sample in, to anyplace I know, the general consensus is that it is a Phytoplasma, stread by LEAFHOPPERS. Leafhoppers can carry the virus, and the virus also is located via Elm trees.
But it has been reported from Hawaii, to South Africa.
We have been battling it since 2010, in NE Ky, and my buddy, though passed in 2022, lost 1000s of plants to it. Generally they are healthy and show no signs, until preflowering, and then it sets in.
In 1967 2 Japanese scientists, observed Phytoplasma, in Iranian Hemp, and predicted it would spread worldwide, and it looks that their prediction is coming home to roost.
There is no cure, and is highly contagious. My buddy had been a guerilla farmer since 1972, in the hills of allalahhai, him and 2 older buddies. Born in the 40s, and they grew unmolested since 72 except for the normal battle with insects. But starting in 2010, all hell was wrought upon their grows, and has become a plague. I havent spoken to the other 2 guys now, since my buddy passed, but I do know that for 12 years, 40%-50%+ would get it.
While I cant 100% say, it may be witches broom, but Ive not seen any photos with weed, with witches broom, with the purpling/BLACK NECROSIS, but its hard to say what different affects the viroid may cause the plants to display
Beware of Leafhoppers.
Welcome to indoor gardening! Starting any new growing project can be a bit overwhelming, but it’s a great way to learn. Paying attention to basics like sufficient light, good airflow, balanced watering, and quality soil will help any plants thrive. I’ve found that keeping notes on what works and what doesn’t has been really helpful as I experiment. Best of luck as you continue to refine your setup!
Thanks my friend I have been trying to keep logs of what I’ve done just for that reason!
